Other Games Pokemon Competitive Battling Discussion Thread

Talk about competitive Pokemon (Smogon, VGC, Kanto Classic, etc)

 

So far in the Kanto Classic, I've won 2 games and lost 8
my team sucks

 

I'm gonna be getting to VGC when Sun & Moon comes out, but rn I just need to get better as a battler lol. These 3 boxes of aegislash wont help Dx

If it's any better, I pulled off a sweep with my Sandslash
2 Swords Dance and spamming Earthquake

 

I love playing competitively. My best team involves Talonflame, Talonflame, Talonflame, Talonflame, Talonflame, and Talonflame.

One has Brave Bird for sweeping. Comes in really handy.
Another is more bulky, have 0 more hp ev's than the rest, and has Brave Bird so it still does a respectable amount of damage.
The third is a revenge killer, because Brave Bird goes first thanks to its awesome ability, Gale Wings.
The next one is a wallbreaker, using Brave Bird, a strong STAB priority move, to tear through poor Chansey.
The other one has a stallbreaking set, as it will always go first if it uses Brave Bird, to prevent any Pokemon from trying to use set-up sweeps.
To round out the team, the last member is Talonflame, because a priority 120 base power STAB attack complements the offensive core quite well.

Ok here we go:

Salamance - Basically the Wallbuster. He's there to do alot of damage really fast. Basically, DragonRush anyone setting up for super awesomeness :p

Delphox - A great Special Tank, with level moves like Psychic and Flamethrower, it's hard to go wrong with this browser(ha ha, get it? Because Delphox is a fire ype and a fox, so she's a firefox? :D)

Infernape - Basically Gen 4 Blaziken, expect a monkey, and you never see him in Competitive, so it'll be fun to see people flip when they get destroyed by a physical glass cannon.

(Mega) Lucario - A Great Glass Cannon that can take a decent hit. Aura Sphere and Bone Rush are it's two best moves. I am probably also going to give it swords dance and metal claw for physical boosts and fairy counters.

(Mega) Gyrados - An Awesome Physical Tank. It's hard to go wrong with a physical tank teamed up with a special cannon. You hit both spots. I'll either mega Gyrodos or Lucario based on the state of the battle, and what I'll need.

Zoroark - The main Ace up my sleeve. They're a trump card if you don't see them, and a disaster if you don't clear them. And with moves such as Low-Sweep and Flamethrower, I can diguise it as either Lucario, Infernape, or Delphox, giving a huge element of surprise for a long-term team.

Just a question, if I participated in the Kanto Classic, how do I redeem the Barrier Dragonite?

 

For Mega Lucario, you would want to fish out as much damage as possible, making him mixed couldbut work but imo, special is better. For delphox, switch psychic over psyschock, Conkeldurrs in singles typically hold assault vest so psychic wouldnt really do much, for Salamence, I feel like a choice band would add on to the psychical damage Salamence already has
