I miss the old days - Rant - Random

Okay, heads up, I'll be locking this post just cause I don't want any more replies - just found out that someone replied today when this post was long gone, so I'll just be closing it down, thank you all though for reading and thank you for your replies, much love <3

These are all my personal views. If you don't like them, congrats, state what you want then move along please.

Simple as the title says. I miss the old days, and I'd like to write my thoughts down publically.
I miss the old hub, community, staff.. people.

Today.. I went to hub, saw that it was different, and just stated in chat that honestly.. it was depressing.
Staff treated that comment too literal, took everything I said way too literal, and treated me like I was just talking nonsense and nothing changed, nor do they notice anything. Give me a break. If you've been here for 3-4 years at the very least (yes yes I said 2-3 in chat), hey, even more, I'm positive you'd say the same. It ain't the same, and you can't deny that, I don't care if you're trying to defend today's community, honestly it isn't worth it. If you don't know about the old days, don't throw your two cents in. By old days, I'm referring to somewhere around 2011-2013 if I'm correct, it's been so long.

Heres the chat, edited, so you can only see me and staff conversing. Nothing has been altered aside from a few swears, as I don't think thats too safe on here.

This happens to all servers actually.. and sadly.
I considered J&H as my home when I was younger, as I didn't exactly have friends around me in real life, I was that type of loner, and the internet/gaming in general helped me a lot. This server, originally, helped me. Met a lot of great people, I actually LIKED the staff n felt sorta comfy around em, and made a lot of great friends that I do not regret meeting. So please don't treat me like I'm an idiot and I don't know what I'm talking about, this was my home. This is where I stayed and mained on. The community was family. Then.. well.. some started leaving, more.. and more.. till theres only probably a handful of old users still here.

Gaming community in there today? Salty kiddos that act like they came straight outta compton, or in this case, cs:go/CoD. I know most of you "smartcookies" are going to say "Why don't you just get off J&H then??", Gee.. why didn't I leave like 2 years ago is what you should be asking when this thing started to die.
Yeah.. the server may actually be growing with new users, thats something to celebrate about right? Sure I guess or whatever, such a shame none of them know what the golden days were like though, Honestly.. I even have Staff helpers that would back me up on this, and a few friends that were also very old to the server, all would say the same.

I miss the days you could walk up to some random user, with the same skin, or the female version (if it was a youtuber skin), then instantly be friends, playing survival games while squealing like innocent kids on skype.
I miss the days where you could actually be in a game without so many salty and overly sensitive kids, and teens for that matter that just start drama cause they feed off it, horrid things. Maybe I was too young at the time to notice anything, but honestly this server is dead to me. "So what, they come, they go, and new ones replace them", sounds like you've never felt at home anywhere without it crumbling down..

When I say community, I mean the social entirety of minecraft, but minecraft itself is a whole different rant with microsoft.
Heres a small segment from a friend, I'll change the name so he stays unknown.

I'd like to state this now, I'm not bashing on the whole J&H server, just the people inside it that make it an amusement park of trashed memories.

I miss those days. I miss the golden age. I miss the innocent community of fart jokes and potatoes.
Too bad we all can't have what we miss so dearly can we?

I don't completely understand your argument...I do agree the server has changes a lot in the last 3 years, but honestly I am perfectly fine with the community here.

Oh btw this could fall under the General Discussion section, because I wouldn't call this "spam" and you would get a lot more attention on that section because a lot of players don't read the Random Spam section

I was here from 2012 and the community has changed, a LOT.

 

I've not been in this 'community' for not that long compared to others, I've only been here since early 2014, but I definitely agree with you, but since I have been here, it's changed alot, I hardly speak to people I used to be really close to because people have changed so much.

 

I agree with this post. I think a big majority of players contribute to the "feel" of the server. To deny that players and staff haven't changed at all is just ignorant. I mean, everyone changes. I still think the community is good though. It has definitely improved in the past week by a lot with the new lobby and all, but trust me, I know where you are coming from. I have felt like some people on here have changed, but you also have to take into account that you are also changing. It can be a combination of both, but I think the server is getting a lot better for the most part.

Also, I agree that you can call this place your "home" as I see nothing wrong with that. To some it may seem weird to call a Minecraft server your home, but like you said, you made a lot of friendships on here. I'm not gonna lie either. I have made a lot of friends on here too and to me this is sort of my home as well.

 

Thank you on that last part about minecraft being a second home - it means a lot honestly, cause those mods really made me feel like I was just talking nonsense and that it's so freakin weird to call a place "home" when you made pretty much a second family there, and also thanks for not being a total idiot, thinking a zoo analogy suits the situation perfectly. THANK YOU FOR HAVING COMMON SENSE SIR. MUCH LOVE <3 <3

 

I honestly have felt the same way, not just about this server, but about others in the past.

I myself would call IJAH a second home to me, as I have so many memories on it/have so many 'friends' here.

I honestly feel for ya, in all the ways. But as other people have said in this thread, people do change. Maturity may be a big part of it. The community is honestly great as of right now, with tons of loving people, and tons of awesome Staff Members.

I do agree with you, with the community changing part. I've seen people come, and go. Even lobbies come and go. It's hard to go through, trust me.

But please know, I'm not one of those people who "hate" on others for talking about the server this way. I feel as it is awesome to not just have a community loving the server, but also having a bit of "tension" at the same time. It makes the server less "bland" you know. But there is always a limit to how much "tension" it can have.

Here is my opinion on the current state:

J&H is finally out of its 'dark ages' or whatever some would like to call it when everythingb was chaotic and shiz. I personally love the new helpers that the server is choosing. The new system for picking staff isnt so judgemental which is something everybody wanted for such a long time. The staff and higherups listened to us players. Games like agarpvp, kitpvp, and others I cant remember have been added in the past few months, as well as revamps to other games like SG, lobby (if that counts lol), and more.

The server is a lot more enjoyable too. I havent felt motivated in such a long time to come on the server, and nowadays the server is as welcoming and as freeing as it felt when I first joined back in november 2013. No more of the hate or dark rant threads (not this one) are polluting the forums and are causing the stuff they used to. Flame wars are uncommon now, and its a lot of more content to hang around other members and staff, more than back then.

But hey, thats just me.

 

Nostalgia warps your views of the past. It makes it seem better than it really is, and you forget about all the bad things in the past. It is important not to dwell in the past, but look to the future. Although you really enjoyed the server back then, it's changed now. It's better to make your contribution to the server now, and make it a better place.

In my personal opinion, it's not worth it anymore. Nor would I want to be apart of something I can't exactly love anymore due to the entier s***-fest it is to me.
I think I did state it wasn't worth it in the rant, anyway, thanks for reading and your thoughts.

I'm just trying to understand what you are trying to say.
I don't understand what is so "Sad and depressing" about the community? There are a lot of good things happening and whether you choose to acknowledge them or not is up to you.
It's not all sad and depressing if you look beyond the rude people.
