Hi, I just thought I'd make this thread because I need some help rn in school. Basically this week I have my assessments and I kind of need to get a high level (at least a 6-7, which equals to a C grade basically) and I am hopeless at language tests, especially this upcoming French one. I want to take French for my GCSEs and it would be handy to do well in these tests, so do you guys have any tips on how to remember things? Basically the test is we have to remember this page of writing (really big) and then re-write them and then say them in a speaking exam and you don't get the text to read from.. How can I remember this stuff? Please help lol

    Thanks

    ewwwww French gsce

I mean I don't revise at all but I know that flash cards normally work

Like place cards around your house in places you normally go
    EG
    -in your bathroom
This way you can remember them whilst doing simple tasks

That's like the only thing that works for me
    good luck tho (:

Put a rubber band on your wrist and then you will notice why u put it there

Or just set alarms random time of the day by having the wake-up setting to "study for exams"

    idk

I had to do these before. It sucks.

What I did was read through one or two sentences at the time and practice writing them out from memory, until you can do it without looking at the sheet at all - and repeat. When you've done quite a bit, try writing out everything you've learned from memory. Remembering what the sentences mean in English also helps.

Are you allowed a help sheet? Usually you're allowed to take an X amount of words in with you while doing the test (usually from 20-40).

    Good luck

Yes, we are allowed to take in 20 words.
    Not really that helpful, sorry.
Wow, thanks! I might try that.

In that case maybe use words from the start of sentences that you struggle to remember

The OP is seeking advice on how to memorize a written assessment, not how to remind himself to do so.

One thing that helps me study a lot better and just remember things in general is writing them down. It just sticks in my mind easier when I write my own flashcards, or write a practice essay, etc. You should try this, it might help you. Also, focus on the points/words/whatever that you don't know well. Don't just memorize it. Try putting it in sentences, methods like that so that you actually understand the concept.
    Good luck.

    Here's what you SHOULDN'T do:
Don't try to memorize everything the night before. It will just go in your brain and go out. Too much information is being processed at once so I suggest studying a little each day prior to tests.

On the day of the test, skim through your notes but don't take it all in. Just make some reminders of the words you're studying and you should be good.

bout every 30 minutes you study for about 10-20 minutes. I mean I don't do this since I remember stuff quickly but I think it should help you.

Get someone to help you study, show them what you need to know and have them question you on it. To me it's one of the easiest and most fun ways to study.

There's also plenty of websites that can help you especially with French.

I'm really bad at studying and I know how difficult remembering French can be, but I seriously recommend these two tips. Hope this helps!

You can turn whatever you want to remember into a song :) it sometimes helps or break the words down into smaller words you will remember.
    Hope it helps :)
