So recently I've come across an issue that has not only infuriated me, but has made me want to create a boycott to make this certain thing illegal. It is already illegal in at least 15 states within the US and one province in Canada. What thing am I talking about? Ticket scalpers. For those of you who aren't familiar with the term, a "ticket scalper" is someone who uses robots to buy concert tickets at a low price and transfer them to their own site and rack up the prices ridiculously for profit. For example, the original tickets were $40 and scalpers took them all and are re-selling them for $200. Where does that extra $160 go? Not to the original artists of course. It goes to greedy scumbags who get money soley from stealing other's work. What about the fans who want to directly support their favorite band/artist buy buying concert tickets? Well they can't because instead they're forced to pay these monsters who suck up everyone's wallets for their own benefit. There are so many reasons why ticket scalping should be illegal EVERYWHERE. These people are using ROBOTS to buy tickets, that somehow bypass Captcha, which destroys the purpose of Captcha being there in the first place. When the artist/band sees that their show got sold out quickly, they would be happy. But little do they know that none of the tickets were bought by real people, and when the concert finally comes around there may be a half-empty theatre. This may cause the band/artist to stop going to that particular city for tours. Scalpers haven't spent their lives working and creating music, yet they're getting 3x as much money than the original artist/band. It's an extremely greedy and selfish act to steal tickets for the sole purpose of re-selling them for their own profit. THIS NEEDS TO BE ILLEGAL IN MORE PLACES. THE FACT THAT IT'S NOT BREAKS MY HEART BECAUSE IT FORCES FANS TO PAY GREEDY SCUMBAGS INSTEAD OF DIRECTLY SUPPORTING THE CREATORS THEY LOVE. That was my rant of the day, it's a completely serious topic and I would like to hear your opinions and discussions below.
