Island points

my question is about island points. How does it work? Do all blocks give the same amount of points or do some blocks give more then others? And is there a stats on who has the most points?

 

there is no current way of checking other people's island points but by right 1 block should be equal to 1 island point

 

So for say 1 beacon is equal to 1 block of water..

 

umm water doesn't count a point but a beacon is qual to 1 island point and so is a dirt but lava and water im pretty sure its not
