Hello forums. I've had my iPhone for approximately two years now. The basic usage of my iPhone is a daily check for clash of clans, as well as some skype calls. Overnight, I leave my phone plugged in, and online whilst using MineChat to sit at my cactus farms on Skyblock2 to keep money flowing for my seasonal Skyblock2 money donation threads.

My problem today was I recently went to a diner to have some lunch, with a charge of 60% battery. Within four minutes, my phone dropped down to 13% and then died two minutes later. I plugged in the charger afterward and the battery said 58%.

I decided to reboot my iPhone after I charged it up to 100%. My phone smoothly went from 100% downward, no sudden drops. It's recently died again while I was doing a clash of clans raid (Oh boy, there goes another 300k gold >_<), and when I plugged it in for a charge, once again it said 58%, meaning 57% of my battery is counted as zero. I'm not sure if this is because the battery is damaged, or a malfunction in the software. The iPhone usually has about five percent of charge when it actually shuts down to prevent damage to the battery (Or so I've heard, not sure if this is true).

Is there any explanation as to why my battery dies at fifty-eight percent charge? Thanks for reading and hopefully I can get some feedback.

I believe this is a common bug for iOS 9.

It's happened to me before, my phone was at 1% and when I plugged it in it went up to 6%

I don't think it actually died, it just randomly shuts down.

Most likely a malfunction in the hardware with the sensors and could be possible software issue. Take it to the Apple store and they should be able to help with this situation. Iphones sometimes have a malfunction when owned for a few years.

The phone is currently iOS 7 still. I haven't upgraded it due to the rumors of future iOS versions being terrible. A few days ago, I was texting @Radii whilst my phone went up 11% battery (10% to 21%) somehow (Yes, Lila gives everything life). So basically this was a sign of that.

Is AT&T able to fix this? I will say I had terrible customer service at AT&T. But is this an issue a pure Apple store can resolve itself?

I'm not very sure as most AT&T's don't have tech's on sight your best bet would be to go to just a straight up Apple store as they specialize in their products know common malfunctions and have techs on sight. AT&T could fix it but it might take grueling time so best bet is to a lone Apple store either in your local mall or something.

I had this problem recently with my old phone.
The best thing to do is either take it to the Apple store and try get it fixed, or get a new phone.

I've come up with the cause of this problem. I had tested using my phone without charge, and it's been at 100% for the past hour or so (give or take a few minutes). So basically, my phone is able to stay at "100%" for a long time, but dies at 58%, meaning that there is no exterior damage to the battery, it's just the percentage meter that went autistic. So basically my goal now is to somehow fix the percentage to be accurate once again. I've rebooted my phone so we can eliminate that solution. However, I am open to anything regarding settings, as we know this is a problem with software. If needed, I will update to iOS 9.0.2.

Ok, so I've been using my phone and it's been about two to three hours and my battery is still at 100% charge... I also got an alert for a text, and checked about half an hour later and the text still said two minutes ago. I'm not sure what problems the phone is having, but I recently reset all the settings, and I'll see what happens from there. In the mean time, any support would be appreciated.

I have this problem with my iPhone 5s, that I just got December 24th 2014, but my battery doesn't drop as fast as yours

Idk how to fix it either xD
    Guessing its a bug.

    Edit: Just thought of this.
Did you try double-clicking the home button? if you do that, you can get rid of some open apps, which can help you save some battery life.

It's been a few hours. I've updated to iOS 9 and my battery is still yet 100% charge. I downloaded an app that tracks battery life and according to the app, I have exactly 23 hours of charge left. Either this app is a kick-ass app for conserving battery power, or my iPhone just went autistic when it comes to displaying the power percentage left, staying at 100.

    UPDATE 10/8/2015 20:52 GMT - 10:

So my phone died after a few hours, and still displayed 100% after I plugged it in, showing that the digits are the problem.

I've talked to my service provider. They have informed me that the cause of this is not iOS 9, the app, or the third party charging cable I have bought. Old age was the cause here, and it turns out my phone is much older than I expected. I've owned this phone for two years, but I did not know that this phone was my father's phone before he got the new iPhone 5S, and gave me his previous version. My service provider recommends having a factory reset, or to trade in my phone for a new one. Insurance is on my side here, so I could do this without expelling a penny. Thanks for the feedback and your time.
