So, as most of you know, tomorrow is 9/11. If you don't know, 9/11 was when the planes hit the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Virginia. Many innocent lives were lost, those in the buildings and those in the planes. I know today is the 10th but I don't know if I'll be able to log on tomorrow so I made this thread today. And yes, I live in New York.

I had an assignment for my English Language Arts class today.
I had to ask someone where they were on 9/11/01. I asked my mom.

    This was her response:

Sorry if you can't read my handwriting. Basically, my mom was scared and she thought we were under attack.

I just want to say thanks to those who risked their life to rescue those in need. Comment your thoughts on 9/11 below. :)

    It's World Trade Centers :p

I was barely alive when 9/11 happened but I still feel this was a terrible thing to happen and I feel sorry for all the innocent lives that were lost that day.

Well today I start school, aka on 9/11 and 2001 was the year I was born. Heh fun times. My parents saw it on the TV and last year my art teacher asked us to draw something in memory of it.

I wasn't even born yet but New York is one of my favorite places and I've there in 2012 and I've seen the World Trade Center memorial and it was amazing, may everyone that died in that event rest in peace and all my respect goes to the cops, firefighters and everyone that helped re-build, clean, save lives that day, etc.

    "9/11 changed America forever.
We never thought we'd be attacked.
After all, we were the usually attackers,
starting war after war all over the world.
Killing without a second thought." - my Grandpa

I had to write about this a few years ago

I actually went to the 9/11 museum in the most recent winter. They had areas where you can listen & read what attendants were saying. It really did give me heavy feels. They also had things like a broken fire truck, which told the story of a team of fire fighters that died trying to save the towers. The last, and probably the most jarring exhibit(in an informational perspective) is how 9/11 was an act of war, and not necessarily an act of terror, as Alqaeda declared war on America multiple times before they did 9/11, in which the U.S. Government ignored the declarations.

i literally couldn't even think when 9/11 happened in the first place but I would watch lots of documentaries on 9/11 so yea. But I feel truly bad for all the innocent lives that died during 9/11. What really struck me in the feels was seeing clips of people jumping out of the buildings to prevent being burnt by fire because they would rather die quicker and less painfully. Imagine how they felt when they were jumping out of the building. And also, something I learned today actually, my friend's dad was in the building during 9/11. Luckily he escaped without being harmed.

I was not born when it happen(I was born April 2nd, 2002). However when I finally understood what it was, I was befuddled on why would they do that. It was a terrible event that happen and affected America for the better and the worst.

Why the better, it is now we have more security to prevent it from happening again.

I don't remember what I was doing, or where I was. I was 4 years old.

I hadn't known about 9/11 until 3rd grade, so about 4 or 5 years after. This summer I had gone to the memorial, and sat where my mom had sat for a lunch party back in the '80s when she worked in the area. She told me how she had a track full of stocks(?) or something of value heading to the towers that was stopped dead in it's tracks right as the towers were hit, destroying whats inside. The street the truck was on was opposite the One World Trade Center, next to a construction site, if you're wondering.

During my visit, we stayed a few blocks away from the site, so One was very visible, and there were long lines leading out of it. I couldn;t help but think "what if a plane hit that" the whole time. Bad thought's of mine

I remember the day this infamous event happened, i was about 5 when this all happened, in my room watching pokemon on my VHS player, My mother saw it on the TV and thought it was a movie for some odd reason :p But i never really watched the broadcast as i was oblivious to what had happened.

I found out about 9/11 during 5th grade when we watched a video about it. i never knew that we were at war with Al-queda until i watched a BrainPOP video about it (If you remember what brainpop is you are awesome). My Grandparents witnessed this event and told my mother about it. but i never even knew what was going on :p

But A lot of things have happened because of this event, Like i remember the day when President Obama did a Nationwide broadcast saying that the Leader of this terrorist organization has been killed. To me, i was Happy that justice was brought on Osama, And i was happy for all the families who had a relative lost to 9/11

Still nonetheless, It was a tragic day for the USA, one that i think will never be forgotten, All the lives that were lost and such, it breaks my heart. :( Rest in peace all the people who died in this tragic event. and My condolences goes to all their families.

I can't remember what I was doing since I was 2, but I do feel a shred of hatred towards the radical organization for what they did towards America. A lot of innocent people did indeed die, but I have to be honest here: not a lot of people care about 9/11 in Hawaii. I do feel sentiment for the people who have been affected by 9/11, and I believe that it should get more attention. In regards to that new World Trade Center project they're doing, I feel that it's just stupid to waste resources on something that may cause another attack.

I was only a toddler when it happened, but I'm Canadian so we don't talk about it as much.

That doesn't mean we don't care though, it's an event than changed and took many people's lives.

I was waiting for it to be the actual day for me to say all this.

I was one and a half when it happened and I was home with my mom and my dad was on his way to work. My dad was on a bridge to get to work and he stopped and pulled to the side to see the first plane hit the tower. He called my mom and we watched it on tv, but obviously I don't remember it.

The only stories I can tell you all is that my aunt was in the second tower and when the plane hit the first one, her boss basically tried and forced her and the other workers to stay, but she left and had to walk down like 50 flights of stairs. She finally got out, but didn't have her phone with her, so we all just thought she didn't make it for a couple hours.

My cousin was a firefighter and went up the north tower to save as many people as possible. He went on each floor looking around for people and one of his close friends from outside tried to radio in to him, but it never went through and the tower ended up falling with him in it. Another aunt was trapped on like the 88th floor or something like that and couldn't get out and then the tower ended up falling.

So yeah. My condolences to anyone here who lost someone. Rip to all those innocent lives.

I'm from England so we don't really talk about 9/11 much which kind of annoys me as 3,000 people died that day and it should be remembered by everyone, we didn't even get to do a minute silence for those people in school. I asked my mum about 9/11 and what happened and apparently she was watching TV and it suddenly switched to BBC news and she was shocked seeing the first tower in flames and people jumping off, rest in peace to all the people who died in 9/11
Here's a video of a 911 phone call from a man named Kevin Cosgrove who was in the WTC. Really saddening, RIP.

Along with everyone else here, I don't really remember the events of that day. Mostly because I was asleep when it all happened.
I was 3 years old though.

It was exactly two days after we had arrived to Nebraska from California and exactly two days before my 4th birthday. My mom tells me that she was sleeping in the room with me when my dad was watching television and he went to go wake her up and tell her to come watch what was happening.

That's really all I can say about that day. R.I.P.
