Nickelodeon rant

Well, its time for me to do a thread that i wouldnt normally do, go on a rant about something! now, most of you know that i am a huge fan of one of Nickelodeons works called The Legend of Korra, the sequel series that ties to avatar the last airbender, another hit show. But i have also gone on about how bad some of the newer cartoons/kids sitcoms have been. but this particular Show just takes the title of being what i consider the WORST show nickelodeon ever produced.

Now let me say something, i dont hate nickelodeon at all, i mean back in the 1990s they had a fair share of crappy shows before, but even those had a little bit of sense in them. These shows on the other hand dont make any sense at all. They're not well written, they have very little thought put into them and are plain unimaginative. Some of nickelodeons Sitcoms are plain terrible as well, Like Henry danger who i swear that kid had to his looks altered with plastic surgery. And then we have breadwinners, What i once dubbed the "Worst show of all time". but this new show in particular i think deserves the title.

Ladies and Gentlemen, i give you this Atrocity of a show.... Pig goat banana cricket.

Now first of all, The title of she show, Pig goat banana cricket? That doesn't even sound like a title to a TV show. its just random words slapped together into this so called "TV show title" I mean lets take a look at some other familiar shows with decent titles, like Gravity falls, Steven universe and Adventure time. and then take a look at Pig goat banana cricket. doesn't fit at ALL.

2nd, I'd hate to do this, but just take a look at the intro...


What in the name of all things logical is this? The drawing style is Terrible and the visuals are Plain disgusting. Even more disgusting than the Cringe-worthy Toenail scene in spongebob. it also looks like the people who made this had to be on some illegal substance, as most of the characters Look like they were drawn while the producers were stoned out of their minds. I wonder how this show was even created?

Producer #1: ooohhhh man... dude i got this awesome idea for a new show..

Producer#2: ohh yeah lets hear it.

Producer#1: Like, there should be this show you know, where this pig and a goat are like friends man, and they got this banana that hangs out with them too, and they then got this nerdy cricket and they do all kinds of crazy sh*t together.. it would be the total bomb...

Producer#2: thats... far out man...

I mean seriously... Was there ANY type of quality control in these shows? Did anybody even look at this show before they put it on air for the Brain dead children to watch? Im sure at least one of the executives looked at this show and said Woooww... this is Shit.

This is literally what TV has become, A bunch of mindless drivel put out there for people to kill brain cells with. Were going to be raising a bunch of Illiterate mindless children if we dont somehow pull our heads out our asses and come up with some Quality shows.

Anyways, I hope you guys had a good laugh at this or even a chuckle, but i just wanted to get this out of my system.

There is another show but on DisneyXD that is just horrible. It's not really a show, it's just a short video, but It's the dumbest thing I have ever seen. This is one "episode" that DisneyXD played.

What. The Hell. Was That? 1 minute 11 seconds of life wasted.

 

I tied my brothers up for a day for watching this.i watched it too 10 minute episode and i fell asleep....... like really n*gga. Pig goat banana cricket?

 

Honestly, I don't care much about these Nick producers and their new shows. Not to sound rude and all but most of these shows are for kids and lots of us have out grown that stage in our lives. I only watched ICarly and Spongebob and now that ICarly ended, it leaves me with Spongebob. I don't even watch that show anymore because I've seen every episode.

 

Okay but Fanboy And Chum-Chum?

 

I actually really enjoy the visuals! I'm a fan of grotesque close-ups like the ones on Flapjack and Ren and Stimpy. The animation is smooth and I even imitate this kind of John K-ish art style in my drawings (I like it that much). I think they make the characters look really emotive by making the face so happy/mad that it deforms. I respect your opinion because I also used to hate it but then I gave a try to Ren and Stimpy and I loved it.
As for the story, it looks pretty random but promising, this community is about a fart jokes after all.

 

You've got a point there. At least the visuals are better than quite a few modern cartoons out there.

I wonder why it is that today's television is split with such a large chasm, split between to good quality shows and the absolute crap. While we have abominations like Pig Goat Banana Cricket on one side, the other side gives us genuinely deep, interesting shows like (in my opinion) Steven Universe. Maybe we need to have one to have the other? Some kids (and maybe some adults!) might really enjoy watching what we think are horrible shows and can't really get into the shows we think are worth watching. And then we have to think about the demographic that channels like Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Disney/Disney XD target: the people that might just want to see completely random, blobby action. The channels are doing their jobs in satisfying their targeted demographic. And for us, who don't want those types of shows, some real shows with depth and meaning are also produced! This means that we are all satisfied by what's shown. While some shows do not fit some of our tastes, we don;t need to be outraged. It's all just a difference of what we want out of our shows, and I think that modern networks are justified in trying to satisfy us all with different "qualities" of shows.

(Sorry I only really talked about cartoons, that's p much where my range of knowledge ends)

 

IMO TNMT isn't that bad, it actually has some decent violence and animation, and time put into it, unlike the rest. plus It hasn't died like Sanjay and Craig, Breadwinners etc.


Not to mention Other Horrible Recent Cartoons that died pretty fast on Nickelodeon quite quickly like Harvy Beaks and Fanboy and Chumchum (probably more I forgot about, as they are probs worth forgetting)

Also new spongebob episodes suck lately too, like have you ever seen the episode: "Kenny the Cat"? its just as bad as Pig Goat Banana Cricket imo.

 

This is why I just watch Cartoon Network for cartoons, theirs are amazing
I feel like Nickelodeon is just the try-hards of the industry.

They even ruined Spongebob. This is going to turn into Disney Channel. (Forced, awful TV shows)

 

This is why Nick sucks these days. They got rid of all of the good shows and replaced them with the crappy ones but hey if you want to relive your childhood there's always TeenNick and Nicktoons.
