Hey guys! I'd like to show you a little part of my W̶I̶P̶ new map. I created the texture and model for these!
You're really talented. I'm honestly jealous. How'd you learn to do stuff like this + all your redstone stuff?
Thank you, I'm flattered :) The scorpions are invisible zombies with blocks on their heads. I changed the model of the blocks to the scorpion shape I wrote. I started doing redstone in the very beginning in 2012 (I was 9). I started doing very simple redstone, with only inspirations from FVDisco. I showed my brother (@TheMint) my creations and he told me that I was good and I should continue doing redstone. I learned the basics by myself and from time to time I used the Minecraft wiki. When 1.8 came, custom models were released. I always really wanted to create models, but I'm on Linux so most programs don't work for me. I had to create the models in the 'hard way': Write the code for the shapes (JSON files). The first model I created was a crafting table with just a tiny box on it, which didn't even have a texture, but then I got better and better, and look at me today! The first model first looked like this: (The first time I realized something is actually changing) Then I added the boxes: And this was my first 3D model. A few weeks later, this happened:
What I hate about modeling is that you have to know many mathematical things But what you did was good, but I think it needs a bit more detail
You're 100% correct about the detailing, but it's kind of hard to copy a model and expect it to look as detailed as other models. This scorpion model was based on RuneScape's scorpion model, but for example, the legs were rotated in two different axis, which is something I can't do. You only have to know mathematical things if you do it the way I do, and I only do it because, well, you don't need to download any program, and I'm on Linux. If you're not on Linux, it'll probably be much easier.
Tbh, I'd actually love to see scorpions in Minecraft, that'd be really cool. Anyways, great job! You're amazing at this sort of stuff.
