Gold Farm in Skyblock Using Nether Portals?

Now I know that there is no gravel, so flint & Steel is not achievable, but I can use fire charges to light nether portals. I know that I can't go into the nether, but will pigmen still spawn next to the portal? I'm asking this because I want to build a giant gold farm using nether portals, but it will take a great deal of time and I want to be sure pigmen will spawn before I start building. Thanks!

 

I have never seen, a pig man leave a portal.
Also, I think since the nether is disabled, how can anything leave via a portal.

So I don't, think pigmen will spawn through the portal.

Also, there is gravel. It is put into the system through the donator islands.
So if you ask around, someone will sell gravel, or flint and steel.

 

Okay thanks, but on other posts I have seen people say that they made a gold farm using portals... Does anyone have a gold farm that can testify this claim?

 

1st: If you're looking for a flint and steel, I can five you a few stacks of flint. I have /is create village, which has a decent amount of gravel on it. If you want free flint, just chime in with me. My name is GuyFattey on skyblock2. If I'm not afk, I'll give you flint :)

2nd: Yes, it is possible to make a gold farm using these portals, as zombie pigmen do in fact spawn out of portals, but I'd recommend using mob spawners. They spawn much more frequently and would take up less space. If you have a mob spawner, I can get my alt account (well, not really an alt. It's @Konohito's account) to change a spawner for you.

Regarding your question, yes just follow what Failed said. You can ask me too because Failed is either doing homework while being AFK or actually on PC. If you need flint, I can get you flint or I can change the spawner for you.

 

Pigmen spawn around portals, and you can use trapdoors to fool them into thinking that there is a solid block in front of them.

 

Anything can go in and out of a portal and on rare occasions Ghasts will even come out of the portal.

 

You can indeed use portals to make a gold farm, but you'll need a lot of obsidian for it. What i suggest is that you use a mob spawner or that you set a chunk to biome hell (ghasts will also spawn then)
