Yup, its good you recognised it as a scam, I think you shouldn't prank call the number, as they can get your phone number, which may lead them to calling you pretending to be your bank, telecommunications provider, anti-virus company, etc. And trying to scam you again.
I am pretty sure that I can spot a scam while on my phone just as good as I can spot a scam on the internet, so that doesn't really worry me. For example, I can look at the area codes. If the area code is 855,800, 888, 877, 866, 844, or anything other than my area code, then i will simply not pick up the phone.
