In the new 1.8 update the following MIGHT be added! Pre-releases of this version is planned to come out this month (January) Mining Updates At a Q&A during minecon 2014 Jeb announced that they are planning to add new types of cave systems. New ores (that have not been announced yet) are also planned to be added. World Generation Updates Dinnerbone announced on Reddit that seasons are planning to be added in most biomes. More structures in biomes may also be added. Mobs More animals are also planned to be added. So far the only mob they are planning to add is a Panda, but there are no official announcements about new mobs. Crafting/Enchantments When re-naming an item In an anvil you will only need 1 level instead of multiple levels. Also, enchantments will be removed. As well some may be added. Doors will now be stackable up to 64, so when crafting doors you will now get 3 instead of 1. Blocks There have only been 3 announcements about new blocks being added. The 2 blocks are Granite, which comes in 2 variants: "Raw" and "Smooth". And the "Bouncy Block" which is sort of a replacement for slime blocks. Etcentera In 1.7 they added the "Super Secret Settings", which when clicked on, changes your texture. They are planning to make the super secret settings a friends list!!! Also, a new command has been announced which is /blockdata. No specific description of what the command will do yet but we will see!!!
