Why do people keep trying to cover up cussing?

Like F**k and Sh!t is stuff im talking about. I hate when people do that.

 

You said you are reporting them in the screenshots, yet you are talking about how you hate when they cover it up.

Are you reporting them or complaining about them censoring curse words?

 

The thing is, although Minecraft can be categorized as a "kids game" by some, this server and community is certainly not kid-friendly. Many inappropriate things happen all over the server, and it's just the way the community has grown. Swearing is allowed, just not overuse (if I'm not mistaken). People try to censor it out sometimes, I guess because they think some kids may see it or something.

 

You aren't mistaken.

Even though it is a 13+ game, you are right. There are kids on this server.

censoring, yes, because we DO have 9 year olds on this community.

 

Some people think cussing is bad for the soul. That's not me but iv'e seen plsyers who think that.

 

When I see people cussing really bad or talking really inappropriate, I ask them to stop politely, most of them say sorry, and didn't realise they were on /all

 

Right.. like.. everyone swears, I know 5 year old's that swear, it's what people do. You can't just report someone for what everyone else does.. at least some of these people are trying to "cover up" the swear words. Everyone knows what "fuck" "shit" is.. it doesn't really matter if people swear.

I'm mostly going to say what @Chase_16757 and @DWGtheTaco said. I agree, I don't think cursing is a good thing to do. However, it is allowed on the server. You just can't abuse the word. If a kid sees these words it's kind of their fault or there parent's fault. This is because minecraft proceeds to be a 13+ game. If the game is not, this server is.

Also, when you tell the person "I'm reporting you", that doesn't make the situation better. The person may proceed to use even more unruly language because you enraged them by saying that you were reporting them. (Even though most people don't care)

 

Just saying, your profile says you're 18 years of age. If you are 18 and have an issue with cursing, then I am sorry. Pretty much what everyone else said.

 

Like everyone else stated: Swearing is just sometimes apart of the game. Atleast these people attempt to cover it up.

 

TheMCPinkUnicorn was advertising a strip club. I assume a mod or up would probably like to take a look at their plot. (When authentication servers are up)

I honestly don't think swearing is a problem for the most part. Such words have a lot of functions in the English language.. they are great adjectives, great for letting off steam, and even sometimes comical. There is a fine line however. When used in excess curse words can be quite annoying and also a sign of immaturity. Not to mention curse words are obviously hurtful when used to describe other people. I do agree with @DWGtheTaco, though, just because I wouldn't want any of the kids to freak out when someone loses their cool or whatnot.

 

I was always curious about this servers' stance on swearing. ive seen reports for players saying a swear word such as "fuck", "shit", or "damn", and wondered if I could get in trouble for doing the same. even if its just one word, one time. (because im not perfect, and nobody really is). its difficult to stop all swearing w/o heavy chat moderation, or chat censoring, usually with plugins (imo). swearing certainly isn't good, but it is a part of the game. players will get upset over things, they will get upset over losing, or dying, a single swear word is tolerable (unless younger audiences are nearby, then I at least try to cover it up in some way). ive seen over use that is just plain disgusting.. and sometimes goes unpunished.

It's because they think it's better. you can't report them because the rule on the server is no obsessive swearing, and that's a one time thing there.

 

i think you mean excessive, but i see your point. long as they don't go overboard i really don't see an issue with it. or at least make the effort to cover it up.
