Hey Guys, so I am thinking about getting a new computer soon, and I need to know your opinions on your computer, and what type it is, just for my choosing purposes. Please describe your pc/laptop. I am most likely going for a desktop computer, and I need your opinions. Thanks!

    I have a laptop.

It runs really well when you play the Sims 3.

Although... it's pretty shit when you play Minecraft.

Get a nice desktop PC with a 3.50 or maybe 4+Ghz if you can afford it. I would advise against integrated graphics like @~Ben suggested, and instead getting a dedicated 2GB graphics card. 8GB RAM is sufficient, however you can stretch to 16 if you can afford it. Make sure you have decent CPU cooling. Also perhaps a 1TB hard drive if you're planning on using it for both games and your homework etc. Also I suggest windows 7 over 8, as it is much more user friendly and easy to use.

Well, depends on how you play, if you like playing in different rooms or something, you get a laptop, but I prefer desktop, as I have one. ^^

I have a desktop it can run minecraft with no lag (Only block lag because of my internet). I can't remember the exact specs but they aren't worth more than 700 nz dollars. Get a decent CPU, as much RAM as possible and a good graphics card. Depending on what/how many games you should get a large hard drive.
    • Intel i5-4690 (3.5 GHz)
    • 8GB RAM
    • Nivida GeForce 6600
    • WD 1TB Hard drive
    • Segate 500GB hard drive
    • A 64bit motherboard
    • Windows 8.1 64bit

    Certainly Desktop.
It is way easier to use, in my honest opinion.

If you're going to make suggestions for PCs, at least get your facts straight.

Speed doesn't matter. My CPU clock speed is 3.3Ghz, doesn't stop me from getting 800FPS. Clock speed doesn't matter. It's like measuring how fast a car goes by it's RPM. IPC is more important.

Also, if you're using AMD integrated GPUs like @~Ben, then they're actually great. It's the Intel ones you need to back away from.
2GB GPU? Not enough these days. 3GB should be the minimal consideration.

If you aren't going to OC your CPU (which is useless for most people) then cooling really isn't a major issue.

And get an SSD instead of a large HDD. Way faster (my PC boots in 8 seconds).

    Anyway,

Desktop. Quite a beefy one, £900, built it myself. Gets the job done, never underperforms, happy with my choices.

You do realise as PC gaming etc progresses, so do the requirements? What I posted was a suggestion, not necessarily what he had to get. Selling yourself short on CPU is a stupid idea, but hey it's your choice.

Edit - @BruhItzJordan I recommend, for Intel, at least a decent i5. The i7 is also a good choice if you have the money. AMD-wise, something along the lines of 4-6 cores. It depends what you can afford.

I know you gave suggestions, but they weren't good. Don't want people getting less for their money off of poor advice.

Also, if you're saying my CPU lacks power because of the clock speed, you have no idea how the CPU works. Educate yourself on hardware before making suggestions that might be relevant if it was 2002.
Obviously a joke/attempt for attention. If he was truthful he'd know the price he listed for the Titan X is miles off.

I'm good at OITC since I hold the record for the fastest game.

Trust me. My gaming set up is really simple.

MacBook Air and Razer Naga 2014.

I'm not sure you are even reading what I'm saying. You pretty much just downgraded the kind of CPU I suggested. The architecture of the CPU is far more important, granted. But it's like someone asking for a recommendation on a phone, and you say an iPhone, then I tell you you're an idiot and have no idea what you're talking about. It just makes no sense, yes? Please perceive your friendly suggestions more...well, friendly and thought out. You also mentioned a 2GB Graphics card is not worth it, however I don't think you realise the extra 1GB vram isn't worth it unless he's using a much higher resolution. Don't argue against what you perceive to be poor advice with more poor advice.

You want the last post to try and save face? Be my guest.
