Ramadan!

Hi!,



So an hour from now the first day of ramadan will start (actually it did but read on) in 3:00 AM or when the Imam does the Dawn Athan, we all (if we could muslims) will fast till 6:00 PM or when the Sunset Athan commenses, we do this for a month (From today till 18th of July), it's a thing we muslims do around the world if we can, it gives a chance to feel the hunger of the poor and other purposes
Bad thing about this is the starvation but it is actually worth it, really worth it

It's not really starving yourself if you can resist, besides if you can't fast (Yes that's what we do in ramadan) you won't be harmed.

 

Not really self harm I think. I'm not religious, but I'm pretty sure it's to practice self discipline and resilience. Pretty much it's so the rich don't take everything for granted, like eating and sleeping whenever you want.

The reason why muslims fast is to experience what it feels like for many people living in the world lacking food. It gives you a spiritual improvement. It shows people to appreciate the food that they have as most people around the world don't show.

You know, thats kinda offensive to us muslims. It's not self-harm, we do it so we can feel like what it is for the starving people in the world. Just like @MrDecryption had stated.

By normal people, he means people who are with mental disorders such as eating disorders or people who are surrounded with others that do it that it becomes normal.

I am very confused on the point of Ramadan too.

It physically hurts not to eat or drink. It's considered self-harm by my standards.

 

To experience how the central figure felt, because they starved too, and meant to bring you closer to God.

They see it as moral and spritual humbling and strengthening.

Its not offensive, its just like any curious person would do. People have questions that they want answered there is no shame in that. Muslims don't fast the entire 24 hours, if you can't take it you can break your fast, but as I stated before there is a really good reason behind it; there is more too it, than just doing it to experience what it feel like to the poor, but that would take awhile to explain.

 

You know if you can't fast, don't it won't take you to hell or something, it's for who could and who is willing to do it

It's not harning yourself. It's to give you the feel of the people who can't afford food, isntead of living with God's blessing, you fast to feel how poor people feel, having to eat very little. Not just that, you also have to donate for the people who need. There is a time you eat in, we are not harming ourselves. God is teaching us normality, all rich and average Muslims have to do the same. Instead of living luxurious lives we have to think about others. I have no idea why people call this religion a religion of war. When all its teachings are about peace and merciness.
Btw, music in general is not really permitted but you can listen to it after athan (Prayer which after is done you're allowed to eat until another prayer)
