Handling reports..

Is it just me or does anybody else hate when a report is handled by.

• Making you feel stupid
• Short not so friendly responce
• just a "thanks /c"
• Just a "denied"

I love each and every staff member and I'm not complaining but multiple times a staff member didn't read my ENTIRE report and I felt it wasn't addressed correctly.
Heres how I like them being handled

• Address me by Yoboy don't just talk to air!
• Say thanks even if it wasn't punishable
• Give a longer response then just "Thanks /c"
• I also enjoy a smiley face but it might come off unprofessional to others.

Again I am not complaining I truly love each and every staff member and I feel they do an amazing job!

I don't see it need to anything more then "Thanks /c" I don't see the point to make it long just make it short and simple

 

Yea thats true but I'm the type that wonders "did this person get punished orrrr??" And it reassures people to know its okay and in the hands of staff now.

 

I know the staff are busy and all but I took 1-2 hours to record and upload a hacking report one time and it got denied with the response being "denied". No grammar or punctuation, no thanks for reporting.
I really wasn't that offended but it was kind of annoying that it took so long for me to record it and stuff to just get a reply like that.
I really try to not get offended by things so petty such as this because I always read replies the wrong way and try not to take things so personally.

 

I have gotten that as well! It just annoys me so bad! At one point i freaked out on a bunch of staff and feel like crap about it now!!

 

Well, on staff's side, think about having to type up each time:

Thank you for reporting the user! They will be punished accordingly, and keep up the good work!

Try doing that with 20+ reports at once, when literally you can portray the same message just in a simpler way, saying the same exact thing. As for making you feel stupid: No staff ever say things that are truly offensive, or else 9/10 times something would happen to them.

It isnt as easy as you think, because after you handle it you have to get the player warned, and the whole process can be a pain in the butt. Depending on the server(not sure if they do this here too) you have to review the hacker reports with other staff members to get a solidified opinion.

Besides, im happy when staff respond after the wait. Shouldnt you be too?

 

Our job is to take care of problems not to reply with feel good messages.

That isn't what I meant. Me and loads of OTHERS need too be reassured that it is handled and n0t just an "oh this is a long report im just gonna type denied" Because for all I know they could just be dennying reports for no reason Im not saying they do i dont think ANY staff would but it wonders threw my mind its just and ocd thing and I tag a certain staff to handle my reports I like how he does it and others completely ignore that and come in and handle it the exacpt opposite!

 

Yes, but I have a life outside of this that takes up a lot of time. I don't have time to sit down and try to remember what I need to say in my responses.

Worrying about emotional impacts our comments have on you guys is a bit out of tune. A simple "banned" or "thanks for reporting" should do as if we go further, it could start us worrying about people that may not like the upbeat posts or for say a pun inserted. The responses we use now are neutral and don't risk any trouble.

Plus, it would be a bit odd if I started going, "Thanks for reporting FlowerUserSoHappy101 :) :) :) :) . This was a really big help :D :D :D and I hope you have a good day."

One, that's not a me thing to do, and people would be lol, "is Yfi on stuff?" Plus, what if it's not a big help? I'm not going to lie. I shouldn't need to fluff up my responses because it makes people feel better. As Noah said, us responding to reports should make you feel good.

You are not staff, so you can't say you would do it. It gets redundant, I promise.

 

No I'm not staff but I can assure you I would thats just my personality and I m not looking for what you said I only want a "Thanks for reporting yoboy /c" To show some respect and I want the staff I tag to be respected to handle it when they ask me to tag them in it!

 

Staff have many reports to care of. Plus a simple "thanks /c" is good enough, we don't need a whole ceremony going on for handling a report. Being a staff member is a big responsibility, I'm not staff nor do I know but it seems like it is. Staff will deny a report for a reasonable reason not just because they feel like it.

 

You know that some staffs do this @Nether0 and someone else does it and it's fells happy when they do it but it's takes time to type it down and there not needed to say there name it's can be hard and they get a lot reports every single day and it's will be hard for them to it all the time

 

I trust that they will but I have gotten reports with just s "/c" or "denied" like yea its denied idc it wasnt a good enough report but just a "denied" like honestly? No capital d?

So if they deside to read reports have something to copy and paste... I mean this was just a post to more or less vent not tell them what to do.. I would rather who i tag in my report to handle my reports!

 

Well maybe staff can put more effort in there messages? Not up to me, it's up to them.

 

I don't think she's asking for you to write a paragraph for each report.
A simple "Thanks for reporting" or "Sorry, but denied. Thanks for the effort" would not be too hard to remember or type out.
Most people get offended when reports are denied and making the post look like you don't care just adds to it all.
I'm not saying you have to be nice or make it look like you genuinely appreciate someone's reports (obviously you do because you are a staff member, but not all people know that), but a couple nice words go a long way to most people.
I'm not trying to be rude and I hope it doesn't look like I am, but this is just how I see it.

Now if we started doing "thanks for reporting ____" , would it really show respect? Doing it to everyone is the same thing as not doing it at all. We would be merely doing it due to habit or order. The word everyone is key too because it shows no one receives unique response to their reports. It's just the same drone reply.

Even when I saw this as a normal member, i had the same effect. I saw this one mod responding to my reports nicely. Then I noticed the mod doing it on all, which made me realize it wasn't a unique thing, but it was really a machine like response disguised into something nice.

 

YFI is right, it gets redundant.

So add a quick smiley? and a different name.. As a member it would go a long way for me and make me feel more comfortable I could careless if they do it to everybody else.. But right noow they just do "thanks /c" to every body is that any different then what u just said..... change it up a little!

 

We'd say otherwise if we didn't punish the player.


I agree that staff should be courteous when handling reports, but after doing so many reports, staff just want to get the report done so we can move on to other things, like moderating the server, irl stuff, etc, so we can't focus on what to say on every single report.
