I have been looking at staff applications lately and have been seeing 1-2 sentence answers for questions. That won't cut it. If you're thinking about making an application, here are some tips on what you should do/add before making an app. 1. Elaborate You will always want to elaborate. If you don't, staff might not see what you're good at, or how you will help the server. For example, if you write "I can help out the server" tell staff how you can help out the server, and use as much information and evidence as possible. 2. Use correct grammar and punctuation. You need to ALWAYS use correct grammar and punctuation in your applications to show staff you're worthy of the position and you will set a good example that we have good staff on IJAH. For example "i can really help out the server. im really good at helping" should be "I can really help out the server. I'm really good at helping." 3. Don't use too many bright colors In my opinion, colors aren't necessary at all in an application, and show nothing but maybe hurt peoples eyes and make it hard to read. If you do want to add colors, make it dark. 4. Take suggestions from the community, even if you don't like them. Always take suggestions from the community, and thank or like their post. Do not argue with them or it can really show staff that you're not ready for the position. 5. Read other applications When about to make a staff app, you should read some accepted applications to see if you have what it takes. Also read denied ones to see what not to add. Only apply if you think you have what it takes. Don't just apply for the fame of it. Apply when you think you are mature enough to take the rank and help the server. Thats all :) If you have anything you would like to add to this, please PM me and I might add it. Someone please tell me if this is in the wrong section.
Very good tips @139. Assuming your new to the forums i think that it's a good thing that you're giving out tips that could help many people on their staff applications.
@pandaness123 Thank you :D I am actually not that new to the forums. I had an account that had been on the forums for a pretty long time. I requested deletion and made a new one, which is this. I am trying to be more active on the forums, and I want to help the server even if I don't have the words helper before my username :)
after speaking to themint staff don't like to read applications that are huge, they want short and detailed something that will get the job done quick and simple.
Yep. Staff don't want to read 5 paragraphs of why you should be staff. But you don't want to make it too short, you want to elaborate to the best you can without going overboard/repeating to make it look big.
Great advice, one of the most common things I find in staff applications is repeated information. People try to make a nice long paragraph but they end up following rabbit trails that mainly lead to off topic information.
I only followed 2 of these tips when making my app. -~(.3.)~- As long as you follow 2 & 3, you should be fine.
