Okay, so I saw a quite suspicious message earlier on my Skype by a certain of my contact so I asked if anybody knew if they were hacked or anything, Lila and Caity told me that this person was hacked on Skype. I just wanted to let you guys know that if one of your contacts send you a message like this: They were hacked. Do NOT click the links to prevent anything and to be safe. To know if a contact was hacked, the username and status of the person will change to #JackedByAcid&Echo It looks like this: Here is some known forum/server members that has Skype and were hacked, if you have them on Skype be sure to not click the link that were sent: @dmuds @_Hooves_ I just wanted for everyone to know this so you guys wouldn't get hacked, Have a good day! :)
My advice: Don't click links from anyone that you don't know, ANYWHERE even if its on steam, on your email, or Minecraft or anything, don't click any links if you don't know the person or if the person is acting suspicious. I was stupid enough last year to click a link from someone, and I got scared to death. Almost. So please listen to what @Loling has said to keep yourself safe :)
I haven't got something like that. Cause I have you on skype I will make sure to tell you if this person sends me the link. Thanks for informing us.
I got spammed with that message, but who would be stupid enough to click the link? EDIT: I've got a screenshot now.
Checked the link on an Android device. It's a phisher website just like with the fake optifine cape website.
Thanks for the information Loling. If i ever see something like this i'll be sure not to click on it.
Thanks for warning me, if i didn't see this i probably would've clicked the link if it happened to me lol
So, this is apparently a common form of phishing for your information. So, here's the deal. This link takes you to a site that appears like it's from Skype. Asks you for your username and password so that you can access something. But here's the trick: You're not on Skype's website. You're on some fake website. So here's today's lesson: Before filling out your credentials to any site, make sure that the URL bar states the site that you're actually expecting. For Skype, for example, it would be skype.com Just a little tip.
I probably wouldn't even click the link unless it was from someone I really trusted. I only add people I know but even if someone I know messages me out of no where who doesn't ever talk to me on a normal basis, I'd be a bit confused and probably would ask than clicking the link.
