Religion Arguements

So today I was bored, so I talked about my religion and how I was giving up something for 40 days, and I get hated on for it. Even after I said that I respected all religions, they were still mad. They were saying 'shut up, stop talking about religion" Even after I told them that "they were just stretching the stupid conversation" that would have ended ages ago if it wasn't for them. I'm not gonna call names, for I don't want to hurt any ones feelings. Even after that, they kept gossiping. Then a staff member told us to calm down. I was glad and embarrassed. Because I was just talking about what I was giving up for 40 days and that I was kraving it, they hate on me. People today just don't understand that other people have feelings, too.

 

Religion is a subject that should be taken lightly. You probably said something that was a little disturbing and everything started. Also if you read the rules, you can see very well that religion is not allowed.

 

Yes, I did break the rule, but we all make mistakes sometimes. It was mostly about me giving up something. Yes, I technically broke a rule, but people took it way too far. They could of asked me poliltely and reminded me about the rule, but they chewed me out. This is why I'm mad.

Also, I checked the rules, and saw nothing about religion. The closest thing I could find was "No Impersonating"

 

Minecraft is not a place for religious discussion. Though there is plent of room for that in Yahoo! Answers ;)

 

I don't mind having a religious debate but arguments should be stopped immediately. For example, I'm a Christian but my friend is Muslim. We have religious debates and start talking about our religion from time to time. We never ever have a fight and normally, we're eager to ask questions to know about each religion. It should be something good to talk about, not something that you fight over which one is right and which one is wrong.

 

While people say you should never discuss religion and politics, they're my two favorite subjects to debate about. I mean, as a kid who goes to a Catholic conservative all boys school, you better believe that I'm exposed to both everywhere.
That being said, there's a difference between "let's discuss the pros, cons, and logic of each religion," and "let's prove why I'm right and you're wrong." The first is insightful and enjoyable. The latter is petty.
Religion would be a lot of fun to discuss on places like the forums, actually. The issue is that, ultimately, we're only kids. Well, many of us are, anyway, and the others are teenagers. Many of us aren't as mature as they could be, and would turn a religion discussion into more of a "you're going to hell," kind of discussion.
Mentioning what you're giving up for 40 days is minute and isn't really bad.
Going onto the server and saying "God's not dead, he's surely alive, thriving on the inside roaring like a lion," (I've seen someone use that exact phrase in the lobby) is blatant idiocy or an act of trolling.
Tl;dr:

• Religion would be epic to talk about but people are too immature to have a discussion over it, therefore it isn't allowed to be discussed.
• Mentioning something faintly connected with no bad intentions is 200% okay.
• That's really all; apparently I can use bullet points. Cool.

Yeah, I agree. I said nothing that could insult others religion. I just said something I do in my religion. And I said that I respected everyone, no matter their opinion. Even after that, people were still mad. It started to become funny after they had just been raging for so long about something that never insulted others religion. I didn't even bring up 'God" or "Jesus". I just said "In my religion, We give up something for 40 days in devotion to religiousness." I didn't harm or insult any religion.

 

I believe, religion can be spoken about. You learn more about people, and it helps to learn how much to judge and trust the person. I think its ok, as long as there is no like hating on other religions that they are idiotic, and pointless. I believe all religions could be spoken about, and its helps u to value the person more. I learned about what religion my bff was, and our friendship improved. i had a friend, and we never knew each others religions. I haven't seen her. last time was Easter in 2013. i think You can. I'm just stating my opinion. I'm not trying to hate, but simply say that i believe that u can talk about religions on MC! My best friends are my best friends because i know there religion, before that, i had no clue what would insult them or not. :) Anyone agree? Anyone disagree?
