uh God. Its this time of year. Standardized testing. I could go into a long rant about how bad No Child Left Behind is, and the politics of it, but im not. Anyway I hate standardized testing. It worries the hell out of me and there very boaring. We take them as the Iowa Assesments. Which is to bad because they used to be called ITBS (Iowa Test Of Basic Skills) Which we would name Iowa Test of Boring Shit. so ya, wish me luck. -- Anyway sense we have a multi-national community Im curious to see what kind of standardized testing you take.
When you said Bush, I thought you meant @Bush xD It took me a few seconds to realize you meant President Bush :P
Are they kinda like exams, or PAT testing, or NAPLAN? Exams: Huge test period focusing on testing your knowledge on each subject (Everyone knows what an exam is :P) PAT: Progressive Achievement Test. Tests that focus on improvement since last testing. Maths and English based only. NAPLAN: National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy. Maths and English testing. Only grade 3 and 5, year 7 and 9 take this. Or is it something else? Idk. The above tests are all that are compulsory for all schools in Australia. I'm pretty sure the closest is NAPLAN, but idk. Oh, and the no student left behind crap is, well, crap. Lemme rant for you c: Not every student wants to learn. Why push them when you can push the students wanting to learn? It isn't as common here, as we have multi level learning at our school (meaning there's easy work, medium work and hard work. I usually get stuck with the hard work :L). But still, you're not giving all students the best learning if you try to get everyone the same. It doesn't work. :P
Its a type of exam Mappy is right though, our system is very broken, and basically teaches you basic skills, only needed to take a test. Tests are what teachers pay checkes are based on.
Actualy You most likely dont know what No Child Left Behind is (NCLB) The No Child Left Behind act was a law passed a while ago that basically evaluated teachers on kid's test scores where. Schools have to improve or they loosing funding. Even my school which is in the 95th percentile for overall Achievement has to improve. Anyway the two test you described are about what we do. We have a question book, and an answer folder. The answer folder is basically rows upon rows of bubbles to fill in. Yes the former American President George W Bush. This was kind of a play on "thanks Obama"
I don't have standardized testing until the spring. We used to have to take this bullshit thing called the Cogats every other year, but not anymore because I guess it's not taken by high schoolers. Then in 7th grade we took the Iowa test, for the sole purpose of seeing who got to take AlgeBRUH next year and who didnt, which was bullshit. We also had to take the NJASK(New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge) which was total bullshit, but last year was the last year of it. Now they replaced it for everyone with a thing called the Park or something, which is on a computer, so at least my hand won't fall off again. Earlier this year we took the PSATs, which literally serves no purpose, and is, you guessed it, bullshit! I swear, each time I take a test like this I want to raise my hand, have the teacher come to me and be like "Can you sharpen my pencil? Then right after can you gouge my eyes out with it? Do it extra hard so I can get lead poisoning, or graphite poisoning if that's a thing."
I used to take standardized tests such as the Iowa tests but now we just take Kentucky state tests. This year we don't have to tho lol because we're freshman. I always did good on state testing so it was never that big of a deal xd
