Buying a new pc and I would like some help. This is similar to @~Ben 's thread. Thanks @~Ben for giving me this idea because i know nothing about computers xD. There are a couple of things (listed there V ) that I need the computer to be able to do/handle.

I need it to run MC smooth. Stable 60+fps
    Within the $500 range.
    Handle editing software.
    Windows 8.1
Needs to be able to make cookies ( this is a joke do not take seriously)

One last thing, I am also going to be making a pc in the future so I was wondering if any of you guys knew some good and reliable parts I could use. @Spikegold I was heard you could help me?

Furthest I could push w/o including operating system.

I'd probably also try to check in with @~Wolf , and also check the web.

Austin Evans has some good cheap builds on YT. I know he's done a $500 and he'll probably also show you how it performs.

If neither of those help, check out a good tech forum such as HEXUS (
where they can give some helpful insight :)

to be honest, you aren't really going to get that smooth and get rly far with only a 500 dollar pc.

My list could probably manage 70 if kept at stock textures, ran on =<1080p, kept at =<16 chunk render and overall not overloading the system.

EDIT: My cousin has a mid-ranged rig from 2009. Comparing the CPU and GPU together, they're essentially equal. However, the APU graphics can Xfire with the 265 (both being of R7 architecture) so this has a push ahead in graphic performance.

And his setup gets him 110 FPS average (80-140) at 1600p with default textures, 12-16 chunk render distance (on 1.8.1 no optifine). Having said that, this setup could actually be quite decent for MC c:

16GB is the ram and 2TB is memory
There is no way to have 2,000 GB RAM that would be like $10,000
    Insane!

The 2TB is storage. Not memory.

    16GB memory, 2TB storage.

-_- dude, he wants a 500 dollar pc, not some 1.5 grand stuff

yes, but minecraft is cpu only and badly optimized, having decent, not fast, setups.

True, but still. If a computer with an i5 750 and HD5850 can pump out 110 frames at 1600p, there's no reason he can't get the same, if not more.

Just change current parts of your PC?
With 500 $ you can quite a good cpu, gpu and motherboard.
I did the same 2 months ago, but with a budget of 1000 $
A complete new PC costs a lot more than just changing current parts.
