    This thread was originally meant to be a troll thread, but...

    The Soviet Union was ultimately based on the ideas of Karl Marx and others, but became corrupted and broken by the capitalist opposition from Nazi Germany and the United States.

    Communism is common ownership of all property, eliminating money and the upper class, bringing prosperity to all. Capitalism is private ownership and a system based off of personal gain, which naturally leads to an upper class oppressing the poor, as we see today.

    A system of government is a system of distributing resources to the public to maintain a prosperous populous. The resources exist to feed the hungry and fulfil the needs of the needy, but end up in the hands of the needless upper class due to our broken system of capitalism.

    You seem to have a complete misunderstanding of what communism is, it does not mean the government "owns you," and not even that would make it incompatible with democracy. Socioeconomic system != election system.
