Some bad news about my dog

So, lately my dog, Jake, has been acting up lately. He hasn't been going outside to defecate, and has trouble sitting. We took him to the vet today, and when they checked for an infection or a clotting in the anal glands, they found infected tissue in the anal gland. He thinks it may be anal cancer, but we are going to hope that it's just a really bad infection.

But, most likely it's a cancer or tumor, and we are are going to have to euthanize him, if that's the case.

He lived a long life for a Staffordshire(Pitbull). Life expectancy for PitBulls is about 9 years. He'd turn 9 this winter.

Oh man, the point where you're hoping that it's a bad infection is something that really bothers me, and awakens me of the gravity of this. I am wishing for the best.

Guys, you should respect opinions of others.

Hellotoyou kinda has a point. Does anyone know what "death with dignity" is? It's a "protocol" in a few states in America, which allows the person to die painlessly if he/she meats a certain criteria. Some diseases are not treatable at the current time, sadly, so if a person is diagnosed with such a terrible disease, he/she can be injected with a certain substance and close the eyes forever. Thing is, diseases of such magnitude will make a person go trough a sever suffering and pain while the result will be the same. While not the optimal choice, death with dignity might not be so terrible, if you think about it.

I'm not saying you should put your dog to sleep, only explaining Hellotoyou's case.

I really do hope your dog is and will be fine. He is really beautiful.

I feel you bro. I've lost some pets too.

 

First off, I'd like to thank everyone for the support. Sadly though, Tumors have been confirmed; we can see them spreading to his crotch. We are thinking of Euthanizing him earlier than expected so he doesn't suffer.
