Well...

As probably none of you know, I play minecraft and on the server, on a school netbook. It's the time of year when they take them in and reimage them. So, I am currently netbook less. Which, therefore, less forum talk, less server talk, and no one will really get to visit my shop in sb3 :( I apologise for this situation, but there is nothing I can do about it. It's so boring not being on the server. Plus, on Wednesday I am going to camp! No wifi though. It is hopefully going to be fun. I will be getting my netbook back on the 16th I've been told. It will have windows 8 on it. Is windows 8 good or complete sh*t? I don't know, but, the main point of this thread, is to apologise for the lack of me talking, I won't post much, I won't talk much, and I won't be on much. ;( ~Mappy

 

I've heard Windows 8 is good for mobile, but most don't enjoy it for anything like a laptop or PC.

Bought it thought it would be cool but nah. It's superconfuseing! and I'm not an idiot at computers. No startbutton, this new metro, modernUI thing or what they call it where everything is on your screen on big retarded looking buttons. Everything on fullscreen cuz it have to be apps :O

They have integrated a mail, skype notification thing what stopped working for no reason. They only thing I could do was get the normal skype and get rid of the skype app because it didn't send my message or it stopped getting incalls. It's just err nah never again :( And yeah no workflow on this thing, you just sit there and have to do 3 extra clicks for the smallest things. Maybe it's comfortable on a tablet but not on a laptop. Ended up selling the disc and get Windows 7 back. Absolute nightmare :(

I have some friends who have Windows 8 and they say it is amazing, I go to a massive PC shop and it is a little confusing.

I have worked out how to get to the downloads, but everything else is confusing

Im getting a new PC this Christmas, a good one with a dedicated graphics card. I at least hope its windows 7, if not im searching 'Windows 8 for newbies'

 

My mom says Windows 8 isn't that nice, it takes up a lot of memory (from what I understood). Windows 8 is confusing, so I just stick with 7. So stick with 7, I suggest.

 

Well, my helper borrowed her friend's Windows 8 laptop, and had trouble trying to open IE8. Don't even mention her attempt to login to facebook. The laptop got flaming hot in like 3 minutes, and there were certainly no other applications she launched...

Worse is, she couldn't find another way to shut down the computer other than holding the start button. sux.

 

for my opinions: if you are getting a computer tablet (such as the surface) then it's amazing. from friends opinions and mine, on desktops, it sucks. having to have a touchscreen for a desktop is not how it's suppost to operate. i'm using 7 and it's still working fine! go with 7. don't get the surface though for minecraft. tried it once..... let's just say.... critical file error which lead the application to fail all the time. it didn't burn out the surface, but it was worth a shot.

 

I wish I could stick to 7, but switching to 8 is compulsory due to the government school party saying 'windows 8 will be amazing to put on kids netbooks which already suck ass. Lets do that!' Don't worry, I'll eventually get a pc and have windows 7, not 8.

 

Well, just look up 'Windows 8 for newbies' and click on the first video. Very helpful.

Windows 8 is decent, but it doesn't beat the old time windows 7.
