[Warning] this thread will blow your mind

Ok, so I'm sitting in AP psychology and we are studying the eye and it's various parts and such. I started to think about something I have always thought about. What if there was more or new colors? What if your eyes could see a few more Hertz in the visable spectrum to see a new color? What would it look like? What would it correspond with? Why am I asking YOU all these questions? O.o

 

New colours? o_o

 

That is interesting to think about.

I'm thinking wed probably see deeper reds, and deeper purples than we do now, and in other than our eyes we'd be more resistant to radiation

 

Try and think of a new color.

You can't.

If there was a "new color," our eyes could not perceive it. In the book The Giver, the people in the town thing can't see color at all. Then the main character guy sees color for the first time, and he has no idea what it is, and can hardly describe it. It would be the same with a real human.

Science. Yay.

 

Literally it is impossible to see "new colors". Even if it was possible, you wouldn't be able to describe it.
Or at least that's how I see it xd

 

I'm not even talking about "seeing" it I'm just saying the ability to fathom what it would look like in your mind. I can't even grasp my mind around the though of what color it would be like a color that isn't even in the visable spectrum.

I thought, what if we were all misconceiving colors? As in leaves would be purple, the sky is yellow, and all other things have different colors? You probably got YOUR mind blown.

Yea I often think of that as well, like what I see as blue and what you see as blue are 2 completely different things

 

Well how about this mind blowing fact, all in all color is a lie. There is no such thing as color. O.o

 

If there would be a new color you wouldnt know what it looks like or maybe dont see that its a new color, even if you would have REALLY good eyes and you would see a new color (impossible) you would never know if others could see it
