So, I've always wondered what people think of "veterans" and their feelings about them. So, what do you define as a server veteran, and to what level of respect do you give them?
Anyone who has been here for 2 years, basically. They gain more respect than new members, including myself, but not a TON more.
People that are here longer then a year and been remarkable on the server and forums. Very active guys who makes smart posts. @WikiRigbyDude for example. I tend to rate them more mature then new members. Even though I shouldn't. Because their staytime says nothing at all.
Well I may not be "active" on the forums but I check it daily and even though I don't have many post I have been on the server for a very very long time. I was talking to some friends about that a while ago. I remember when DWG wasn't even a donator. This was about a year ago. I remember when Itsjerryandharry accidentally leaked their skype on the server chat and then got mad about the flood of spam lol. Everyone I made friends with have moved on and quite frankly in my eyes you are all new but at the same time old.
Hm. Many people see veterans as different things. So, first off. What IS a veteran? What most people will say is anybody who was active on the server before the revamp. To me, it means anybody who was on the server before they split survival and minigames. So, to me, a real veteran is anybody who played on the server while survival and minigames were the same physical server. Now, what do I think of veterans? Truthfully I think so many of them have gone so far downhill that being a veteran isn't even something somebody can say like a good thing anymore. Sure, it's not a bad thing, but it doesn't mean nearly as much, since the name has been tarnished by those who bear it. I still try to give a nod of respect to most fellow veterans, just a silent thank you for staying with the community and guiding through it's hard times and being there for the fun times, but so many veterans have ruined and obscured their image, and to some extent, it makes all veterans look bad, especially when so many of the veterans do it.
I think it's absolutely ridiculous how some of them think they're so better than everyone else just because they've been here longer. Some of them get on my nerves a lot Especially those who brag about it. end. of. story. c;
Yeah.. Most 'veterans' are just like "I've been here longer now suck up to me so you can get my approval to co exist on my plane of existence." That being said, not all veterans are like this.
The "veterans" of the server are people that joined within a few weeks of the server's birth. This includes me, and some other staff members. Not exactly. I've been given the same, if not a bit less respect than others.
I know that my post was a bit boastful but I try to be nice to everyone :P I love seeing new people come in just as I hate to see old ones go
Veterans to me are people who've familiarized themselves with the server better than anyone else; our rules, our inside jokes, you get the point. :p
My whole opinion has been stated by other posters. Edit: As @c3p0 said, I think a year is a good benchmark time for being considered a "veteran".
Disagreed - that still has a lot of meaning in that people who have been there longer will often know more about the workings of the forums, and history as well. Read my reply to Xad.
I find it silly that people give more respect to veterans like me and others, I treat everyone the same.
Wiki, or Rigby, whatever you wanna be called... it isn't really important. We know because we where there, but other than that new members can find something out by asking. Really, veteran has no special meaning to it.
From what I've read, this is what most people think: Veterans are just regular members who've been here for a longer period of time. It isn't about how long you've been here, but how you use your time here. I could be wrong though
