Warning: If You Use Skype, You Could Get DDoSed

Today, ryan_tenne DDoSed two YolomonsStore faction members. In factions, after Ninjurry killed him in pvp, he used Skype to get their IPs. Ryan_tenne msged him his IP to prove he knew it and threatened to DDoS him. Less than a minute later, Ninjurry was hit offline.

Later, yoyomana 1v1ed ryan_tenne and was DDoSed in the middle of the fight.

To help prevent this from happening to you, go to the menu bar in Skype and click Tools > Options > Advanced > Connection, then click only contacts can direct connect.

 

How did he get said ips? I don't recall having the ip directly in front of the contact info.
Plus, that's a little extreme for a kill in pvp, don't you think?

 

It's a part of how Skype works to make connections between people faster. And yeah, he was mad.

 

But it's a game, I don't get how he was so mad.

That is not what DDoSing is at all.

Distributed Denial of Service attacks are firing many packets of data at the targeted ip, overloading their internet network and slowing it down so much it either shuts down or is very slow.

Well I mean if you only have close friends on Skype, this shouldn't be an issue because you would know that they wouldn't do that to you :P Most people should be safe, but there are others who may not be.

Recently weirdos have been messaging me starting off with a normal conversation, then going into other stuff. Instantly block those people, unless you're sure they're people you know.
