Although my dad makes me pay for donations on this server, he still buys me meals when we get a chance to see each other. Although he did cheat on my mom, I still accept him as a good dad. He's also the reason why everyone respects me in school. He put me in Martial Arts TaeKwonDo, and brought me to the gym to work out and push steel.

My dad hates the Beatles and criticizes me for not being "civilized". He threatens to take away all my Beatle merch and throw it in fire. He also forgets my age.

But he provides shelter, willing to get out of work early because I need to go somewhere, gives me money, pays the bills, keeps the front yard nice, and works so yay.

 

I can't like my dad… He is so mean to my sister and me...

 

Don't feel bad, it's not your place to feel bad. There also isn't much to feel bad about considering he doesn't do very bad things. He is just annoying.<3

It's not that he does anything bad, it's just we don't like him because he doesn't know what it's like to be a teenage girl. He doesn't understand why we would rather stay at our mom's house than at his house. He always tries to take us places we don't want to go and he takes away our electronics for no reason, all the time. He makes my mom look bad in front of his whole family and he never tells us what's going on with him. We just wish that he were less "old school" and if he were like the dad's that my friends have.

When I was 7 I thought my dad hated me. I thought he didn't have my back. He will bust out his wallet for anything. He does have my back. I don't want any "poor me" feedback please. Your parents do love you. Don't think they don't I love my dad more than my mom

 

I don't live with my parents for long time so I miss my dad ._.

He was always buy me what I tell him to get. Same thing with my mom.

He isn't a bad guy, like, he never physically touched me nor hurt me, but he just...put me in a terrible state of mind.

Having a severe alcoholic as a father, man, I hate it when my mum brings up any time she's gonna drink, even though I know she'll do it responsibly. He wasn't just an alcoholic, but I won't get into it.

For the majority of my life, I have never seen my parents get along. I take my mum's side, as I just REALLY do not like my father.

My father has done so many bad things in his life, to the point where he doesn't know there's money in my brother and I's bank account, due to the fear of him taking and spending that money. He won't think twice about doing it. He has no sympathy for others. I mean, come on. He 'borrowed' 2k off his friend that he never talks to anymore due to him not repaying. Why? For a holiday with his wife.
And, once, he was a truck driver, back when he HAD a license. He didn't check his load properly and it came down in one of Melbourne's busiest tunnels, caused massive delays and $70,000 AUD worth of damage and stuff. He quit the job in order to not be responsible for the payments >->

There's more. We had family issues back a while ago. We didn't want to see him, and he wanted us back, after my brother decided to keep sucking up to him. He got lawyers involved, and my mum had to use my brother and I's Christmas compootis money to pay for it. I was not happy at him for that.

All that I can remember of him when I was a child, was an unresponsive, spaced out, drunk and irresponsible father. I rarely had a proper meal down there, chips (potato bag chips) and soft drink was what I ate mostly. And, I still do.

I know this sounds a little too....messed up? It would if I put everything in detail. This, and more is why I do not like my father.

 

Well instead of trying to change your dad, accept him for who he his. You basically can't control him. You're his kid and if he can't take responsibility being a good father, shame on his part. Sincerely, yours. The understanding person.

I can't accept him at all. Try being 7, looking after a 4-5 year old and trying to feed him, since your father is too busy passed out and won't get up to give you even a sandvich. Imagine, having to repeatedly tell your passed out father to go to bed, just so he could turn off his music, that of course, was really loud.
That isn't a childhood. I never had a childhood. It took everything I had to get through it. Food, tv and my room was how I got through the first part of my life.

 

I thought I was miserable. Look Mappy, in situations likes these, if no one is caring for you, in this case your dad, you have every right to get some help. This is obviously not a good situation, the one you are in. I suggest you get help, as soon as possible.

That break from my dad I said in my first post, did me good.
Yes, I have suffered a lot from him, especially towards alcohol and self responsibility, but, especially since meeting this community, it's been better.
It could of been worse, I mean, at least I wasn't being abused. :P
