Forums And Name Changing

Just a question, how are forums going to adjust to name-changing in Minecraft?
Like, otherwise, people would have to make a whole new account, and they would lose all their ranks, and if they're a staff member, they would have to re-apply.
How is this going to work?

 

Players have a unique user ID. Nobody won't be affected because of this.
For example, Moderator1 decides to change his name to JHMod1, his rank would stay since the system recognizes a player by the ID.
Another one. If I decide to change my name, my VIP rank would still stay.
As for name changing in the forums, we would have to wait for the actual feature of Minecraft, not right now.

Well, theres this thing called a player IP.
No matter how much times you change your name the ip will stay the same and they will know who you are.
This is also a baning method, if they ban your IP then no matter how many alts you make you still cant get in

 

He`s talking about the FORUM account names and the MINECRAFT account names. He`s asking what would we have to do if we change our Minecraft account name and make it match our forum account name.

 

Contrary to what @ItsHarry once said (that it's not possible to have Xenforo [that's the software this forum uses] forums change names), it's actually possible to do so. Believe it or not, nobody, not even if they're the owner of a Minecraft server's forum, is always right. They're human just like us, and we all make mistakes.

Forum name changes are possible with a XenForo addon that costs 10 dollars or so. It may seem not worth it, but when Minecraft names are finally changeable, a forum name change feature would be in such high demand that it's pretty much necessary to have such an addon.

 

I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about the forums. I already know what a player id is, and what an IP address is.

 

I don't think people get what I'm asking. Here is a scenario.

Bob is a helper. It took a lot of time to achieve that, and he is very proud of it.
One day, when name change are available, Bob decides to change his name to 'Joe'.
Joe will now have to make a whole new forums account, because he changed his name.
He will also have to lose his Helper status.

What I'm asking, is if there is going to be a new name changing option for the forums.

 

Its pretty much just like changing your name IRL, you change it, but people will still recognize you as the same person. Simple as that, just e\leaving out all of the IP stufffs

 

If Bob has an account called "Bob," but he changes his MC name to "Joe," then it doesn't matter on the forums. Mcc is "PentilexBros" on the server, and he's still @Mcc457 on here. My IGN is "JoeyBacon01", and I'm @JoeyBACONBacon on here. Davy's IGN is "Mr_Davy_Jones" but his forum name is @MrDavyJones.

And nobody can steal your name. If you change your name from "Bob" to "Joe," nobody can use Bob since you already used it. If Jeb did a test and changed his name to "Jebbingtons," nobody could use his normal IGN, "jeb_."
