So I have been checking out some peoples Staff Applications and am confused on why people do this. So the thing I do not get is why do they not add a lot of information to their applications. Seriously, do they think they can get accepted to the server if they just add a small amount and then do not edit it. Another thing I have noticed is that people do not take their apps seriously. I see so many people just like "Yah I do not care about the app so I am just going to leave it how it is. I am not going to take any advice from other people. I still will get accepted though and thats the big thing" and it is just not true. The last thing is that they get a lot of attitude with the people who are trying to give them advice. I mean wow and the worst part is that most of them are new members to the server.
I kinda agree. Everyone wants to be part of the staff in J&H. They never thought of the server, They just want to be part of the staff. The reason why I don't apply to be staff because of I have little experience of being staff. People apply for this so they can be like "Oh yeah! I am staff of J&H!" Those kind of people care only being staff, not about the server.
If you are never be a staff member then you will never get experience! You should maybe try it out on a different server and then see if you can be a helper here!
Becoming a staff on a server is a HUGE responsibility. If you want to be a staff just to be recognised, then don't. You'll waste your time and others' time as well. Becoming a staff is never meant to be easy. You need to learn to take full responsibility in your duties. Only make a staff application if you want to :- 1) Dedicated to help the server. 2) Bring justice to the rule breakers. 3) Have evidence to support them when the banned ones make a ban appeal. 4) Be active on the server and on TeamSpeak. 5) Help those in need. 6) Check the forums for any reports. 7) Listen to both sides before taking any action. 8) Able to manage his or her time for friends, school, real life stuff and online. 9) Be nice to others. 10) Enforce rules in the server; and many more. If you can't fulfill some of these things, then don't bother making an application. Sure, you can have fun or hang out with your friends, but remember, duties ALWAYS come first!
Jerry and Harry themselves said that applications only show dedication, grammar, age, and maturity. They base everything else on actions, forum-wise and server-wise. Also, most of the apps you are talking about are just people who come on, make one post, and go. So, we really don't need to worry about those. Most people here don't understand kindness. Those types of applications are usually denied within seconds of viewing by staff members. Imagine it like this: You are in a school competition and if you make the top 3 for athletics, you make it to the next stage. The next stage is filled with schools in your local area and if you finish in the top 3 for that, you continue on to the next phase. This means you go to the whole region and you're competing against great runners. Complete that and you're into the states. You're against the state and if you manage to get a good result in that, you're accepted into the state's best. It's like staff applications. The staff like your application and you make it in the next (and final) stage; judgement from Jerry & Harry. They choose who they want and they grab the best ones. The people who tend to take everything in a horrible manner are the ones who the moderators and staff aren't looking for. Besides that, most applicants are inexperienced and don't really know that much about the server. Most applications are short and hard to read with an appalling standard of grammar (no offence but it's pretty much true) and some don't even use the format provided.
1. A big and long application = perfect promoted, not. Devin and others has been promoted with smaller applications. 2. IJAH only Pick new staff members when needed. 3. Not experienced? So? You don't REALLY need experience if you're good enough ofc. 4. I agree. Yes, i do have a small application, compaired to others applications such as Animoes', but I think it shows enough to have the chance.
I can full fill all of them except the teamsepak part of #4 (As I don't have it) and number 8 (as im on summer vaca right now :D and I don't have really any friends). I have about 2 years worth of staff experience on another server. I even asked form a temp break from it cuz the work was giving me mid-night panic attacks... ._. but apparently my application was "not enough info". That app I made was the biggest I've ever made. This server needs to know something: it isn't the quantity of the app. It's the quality. High amounts in quantity does NOT make a good quality app. I know from experience as I have accepted and denied mod apps before. So really... I don't see why I got denied. In my vision (as I typed just earlier with the bold letters), I saw no reason why it was denied. But I tried. And somehow failed. So I won't ask for it. Just wanted to give you all my opinion. But here is the link to my app if you want to see it: http://www.itsjerryandharry.com/threads/indigomasters-application.9143/#post-89612
As I pointer out a big application is not always a good one. A small one can also be a good one. And your application was never denied.
Oh on this website people would actually say denied? Oh ok. wasn't sure. I haven't seen any apps that said denied so I didn't know if "ignored"/"never read" was denied or not.
