I need help... IRL help.

Hey guys

Quite a while ago, I became a Brony. I have enjoyed the experience, and I don't intend to stop being a Brony. Only my sister and best friend know this, and they don't really care. Now comes the hard part... Telling my parents...

I don't know how to tell them, I don't know how they will react of what they will do...

The positive feedback will probably be that they will accept it and let me continue.

The negative will be they look up 'What is a Brony?' and see that there are haters... Then stop me from watching it from my iPod.

I'm asking if you have any help on how to tell them and get the positive feedback.

It's just a TV show, you're 12, it's really not going to matter in the future.

Save the drama for when something real big happens, like when you get you first girlfriend, or on the flip side, if you're gay(society today...), or if you got a tattoo...

 

Or if a female likes you, but nearly 200 other boys like the girl. FML, I don't want to be hated by about 200 boys. Considering well, I have a technical fear of the opposite gender, and at the same time, I AM NOT gay, despite my fear of females. Meaning, I'm a loner. But that is off topic, as Mcc457 said, it doesn't matter whether or not you are a brony. You are who you are. Nobody cares, and if they do, well, screw them. That is what I say.

 

Meh, tell them whenever you feel ready. Just say, "I have a confession to make...I'm a brony" or something like that.

 

The kid is only 12 years old, nobody cares. Even if he was a brony, like I said earlier, nobody cares, and if they do and make fun of it, well screw them. :/

Well, I'm 17 (18 actually).
Told my parents (okay, they eventually found out), and they were okay with it.

But that's just my parents.
I would just tell them that the "bad" parts of the fandom aren't what you're into.

That's what I had to do when my parents found out about me being a furry.
(Trust me - furries get a lot more shit tagged on them, when it really isn't true.)

 

It's a TV show, your parents should understand. You shouldn't be judged by what you like.

Yeah lawl, the only reason my parents know I'm a brony is because my brother walked in on me watching MLP and he told my dad, and eventually my mom learned it to. Even though my mom probably doesn't know what a brony is XD (my dad does)

My point is, it's a TV show and an interest. They don't care that I'm a pegasister or my brother is a brony and thinks its 'adorable' and don't really mind. You parents should accept the fact you enjoy watching a TV show. Just say you enjoy the television show My Little Pony if you wanna directly tell them. Don't be sneaky when watching, just casually watch it on Netflix or TV. Treat it like any other TV show. Its not anything to hide. Just be watching it and if they ask just explain and that it's a good show

 

They really won't mind unless they think you are gay or something. I'm not homophobic, but my guy friend's parents are and they think their son is gay (he says he isn't so I believe him). Liking a show is not like 'coming out' which isn't that big of a deal either. You don't need to tell your parents that you like a TV show.

 

I mean, in all reality, the whole thing with furries and bronies have been blown way out of proportion by social media and weird, weird people.

Your parents shouldn't care that you're a brony. It's a bloody TV show, for peet's sake.

You can tell them. It's a show. A simple television show. It won't ruin your reputation. I mean, @~Wolf, @Fluttershy's Assassin, and @WikiRigbyDude are bronies, I don't see why you can't be one.

 

TBh, Being a brony is EXTREMELY easy to deal with hate when you get the hang of it.

Now, I understand why you're scared. Parents are role models to everyone, and you're scared that your role model will be disappointed in you, no?

The whole idea about being a brony is sharing ideas and accepting them(Something that, as much as I hate to say it, this forum doesn't do as often as it should). If you truly are scared of what they'll say or if they'll ostricize you, then go to a place, like a random public server, and state blatantly that you are a brony. You will most likely get hate. And I can tell you this. The comments that they give you, will be nearly identical to the ones your parents give you. Just remember that, and don't let the whole paranoia in relations get you down :)
