Staff Applications (Pole) READ article BEFORE answering.

I know this has probably been said before but opt his time I am pitting this into a pole to see what people think.

In my opinion I would rather have closure on my application such as a denied tag on it rather than waiting for ever for something that will never happen. I just want to see what everyone else thinks.

NO this does not pertain to my staff application and his does not mean I am impatient I have just seen a lot of conversation about this.

Everybody get's a answer sooner or later. They need to watch your attitude and make sure you're one of the people they want as staff.

 

Agree but ALOT of people have never gotten an answer.

 

Because they haven't done bad, yet they aren't accepted yet.

well. Gather 'round kids! It's story time with kklm! To be compleatly honest, I would rather have a long wait than an big denied label. Jerry and Harry have lives, they don't keep watch of the server 24/7, They are humans like us. They have school,youtube,social lives, and other things like that, so when it comes to picking staff they may only have a certain amount of time to do it in, also, there are 1000's of applications so Jerry and Harry (and maybe some other staff) have to go through thousands upon thousands of applications so it is hard just to pick 1 or 2. Take 05ocram05's application for example (sorry cram but yours is a good example to use, I hope you don't mind) He made his application on November 4 and his last response to it was in december yet he got accepted, So that shows that people do get an answer no matter how old their application is.

This has been said a million times before as well: Decent apps are forwarded to J&H, mods can only deny apps if the applicant asked for them to check it or something along those lines, every single other app somebody higher up has to make a decision and they just don't have the time to make a decision on over a thousand apps. (I could be wrong in some parts here, so correct me if I'm wrong xD).

 

I think the maximum amount of time needed is 6 months. After that, closure should be there. 6 months is by far a sustainable amount of time to check the player's requirements and actions throughout time and to see any improvements.

 

To sum things up:

We can deny an app if we're certain they are not material for it.
There are hundreds of apps and players. Its hard to single one out to watch for. When we see one is bad, we deny them.
But why deny someone who hasn't done anything wrong, and we have not seen enough of to even know if they are not material for it?

Instead, we leave the app open until we're certain.

That can take 6 mo. or even more than that if we don't actually know the person and haven't seen them yet.

All I can suggest is to be patient. I could ask J&H about adding a rule that if your thread is over 2 mo. old you can ask us about it one time. No promises on this, so be patient.

 

Well, come to think about it, I would rather have no closure. At least I keep the feeling that I still have a chance to become staff. So. I'd rather have no closure. Even though I voted for the other choice.

 

I'm neutral on this one; I don't have a staff application; here's my honest opinion.

Honestly, there's many reasons why nobody who creates these threads have been accepted yet.

- You are thinking backwards. The exact oppisite of what reality is: (this is what you think) the more time it takes to wait, the higher the chance of denial. That's wrong. The longer it takes, the higher the chance you will be accepted. On the first month of their application, do you think that most of these people know mods very well? No. Trust builds up over time, then friendship, then connection. The longer it takes for them to decide, the better the mods know you and believe in you for becoming a helper.

- Think about this questions:
Did Jeans, Lila, Marc (05cram05), Caity, Zezze, or Devin mentioned their staff application in a way they want closure? Do I even have to say the answer? I mean, sometimes people get a bit excited of their application being accepted or not (like saying thanks, or talking about their staff application for a mere 15 seconds) , but some others have just crossed the line. Even some people with poor applications don't really care about closure.

- This server wants the people in it to have fun (and a little money, of course) ;NOT staff. I understand that many people would like to get staff, but think about getting elected for a president. They don't get the chance to get it in one month of considering it, after 1-4 years, if the president seems promising to the country, then the country accepts that president.

Understand that closure takes time; have fun on the server!

Seriously, this person just hit the nail on the head with a sledgehammer.

Further, on the first bullet point; your chances also go up because, if we seriously were sure you weren't material, we'd have declined you. The longer you can go without being outright declined, the higher the chances are that we noticed your thread and chose not to outright block you.
