The only point that I am going to make here is that we cannot have a president that has lied and even walled off his own people. He thinks that the best way to approach certain situations is to ignore them and hopefully they might go away which is never the case in any circumstance in life. I would like to have a president that I can call a leader, someone who I can trust, and someone who I know that won't even screw his own party over with the things that he has said and done.

I don't try to nitpick arguments too much, but this point stood out to me. I should point out before I start this is from a very New Zealand focused perspective, but many of these points seem to be shared worldwide.

The US's status in the world has been harmed by Trump. Those of us outside of the US can no longer look to it as a 'world leader' anymore, from pulling out of multilateral treaties with worldwide support (the Paris Agreement), trade deals (including the TPPA that was already unpopular in New Zealand due to the massive concessions we made to the US, so it would've likely benefitted them hugely) or things like the Iran Nuclear Deal (which was working). The US simply isn't a reliable partner to countries worldwide, which means other countries are now pursuing closer ties with the EU or China (for example, the New Zealand government is currently upgrading our FTA with China and negotiating one with the EU, with no progress being made on US-NZ trade since the Trump Administration withdrew from the TPPA). Beyond that, anecdotally, I think you would struggle to find a significant percentage of New Zealanders who favourably the US at the moment, especially with the response to the BLM movement and COVID-19, whereas during the Obama Administration far more of the population viewed the US favourable - and this is a Western nation with views and aims that traditionally align with the US!

I'd argue he's correct honestly. The world in 1968 did not have rapid communications as we do now. The current BLM protests have spawned protests all over the world because of the ability to rapidly communicate things. I'm not sure MLK's assassination quite formed the same level of global protests (but please prove me wrong! I wasn't able to find much online).

Plus I'd much rather someone make remarks like that (it can be at least argued to be true) than tweeting baseless conspiracy theories:

or suggesting that they could try injecting people with disinfectant, or talking up (and taking himself) an entirely unproven and potentially dangerous drug. This is not to mention the much more troubling statements and actions he has made that don't fit into the typical soundbite form.

At the very least I would encourage you to bypass the media and commentary that goes with it and read Trump's statements and actions yourself, along with the statements and actions of those who are campaigning against him.

Also, please don't interpret any of this as me trying to call you out specifically! If you do wish to support Trump that fine of course, and I'm not someone who tries to change the political views of others - I just wanted to address some of the points you made :)

As for who I would vote for, I guess it would have to be Joe Biden. But I think Presidental systems are fundamentally flawed (due to the concentration of power it places into the hands of one person), and I much prefer proportional Westminister systems, both due to the compromise that's needed to form coalition governments, but also the fact that there is no one individual in charge, instead it is a group of ministers who are collectively bound to support the decisions of that group, even if they disagree with them. Plus they are far more accountable to the people as they must face questions every week, in person, from the opposition.

Then find a credible news source. I like the Associated Press, who are about as neutral as you can get. Or, you can cross reference stories.
This is mildly bizarre, but does not even come close to the crazy shit Trump says. The two are not comparable.
Even if we accept your premise that Biden says stuff as crazy as Trump, Biden is still a much more morally upstanding person that Trump is, or ever will be. Even if you see the two as more less the same (again, they're not) Biden is at very least a reasonably decent human being.

Who cares about what they say? everyone says stupid stuff. i personally dont judge people, especially politicians, by what they say. i judge them by their actions. Don't judge people by the content of their character; judge them by the color of their skin

In the UK though, a total of literally no one likes trump at all and when Obama was in office the country seemed a lot nicer than it does now with Mr injectyourselfwithbleach

I wouldn't even vote, all of the finalist you can vote for are retards. The ones that make some sense are pushed away in the early stages and will leave america with a shittier list of candidates once again.

Goodluck out there, I'll be cycling next to my prime minister and asking him how his day goes while America is torn apart by it's own people

I mean if one of them dies or does something so bad as to not get the nomination from their party then there could be someone else but as it stands right now, one of them will be the president in 2021. There is a 0% chance any 3rd party candidate could win so I just didn't feel like there was any point to add any other options.

You also have to look at the possible long term effects of Trump's economic strategy, and how they will go in the future. Even before the coronavirus pandemic, the yield curve started to point downwards, which has predicted every recession in the past half-century. Trump is just expanding our spending on the economy and bailing out companies, which in the short term is good but increases the national deficit and can lead to a collapse in the future. I am not saying this would have happened, and again I think before the coronavirus pandemic he was doing a good job with our markets but its hard to judge when he has only been in office for 3 years.

What about it? He’s human, lawl. I could link over 20 times trump has stumbled with his speech.

The fact that you’re using that to justify why he wouldn’t be good in office makes me believe you have no actual clue what competent and capable mean.

I'm more competence than you so maybe you should'nt bully others because they have a different of opinion.

Biden stumbles a lot. I didnt post this to say that trump is better. I was just making light of Bidens mental state since I believe he might be in mental decline (not that there's anything wrong with people who have mental illness)

That's true, and I am sorry. But I just always personally found it a waste to vote for anyone who isn't going to win. There is no difference between writing in a candidate, versus not voting at all. Either way one of the main party nominees will win and your vote wont matter.

But ill add an "other" option for people who don't plan to vote for either.

Wasn't going to say anything on this topic, but I'd like to add to this discussion. When Obama became president, he passed the Health Care Rights Law which prohibited discrimination against people of a different race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability in health programs. With this, it was determined that you are not allowed to discriminate against somebody based on their gender identity or them being transgender. Yesterday, June 12, which marked the four year anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub shooting, the Trump administration overturned transgender health care protections which means that they can be denied health care services due to them being transgender.

This isn't the first jab he's made at the LGBT community this month, as in early June he brought the idea of letting adoption agencies being allowed to deny LGBT families from adopting to the Supreme Court. He has been actively trying to take the rights that members of this community have only had for less than a decade away from them during the month that is supposed to be supporting them with open arms. We are continuously going backwards, and it's really frustrating to me.

I want someone who is going to work towards equality for all in our office, not someone who is going to single out each group of people until we are completely against one another. I don't think it is fair while one group of people is flourishing while the other is receiving the bottom of the barrel. Trump scares the shit out of me, now more than ever, and I really hope for a change.
