I've basically been raised in church as my family is religious and my grandpa is a preacher and I used to believe, however recently at least I've been questioning it so y'know.

I believe that there's probably some higher power or powers out there.

I'd like to believe that there's a higher power or some kind of creator, but I doubt there's any point questioning it because it's not like we'll ever find out the truth. It's more important (to me) to focus on science and actual advancements because sticking to some rules we don't even know are real just holds us back

I was raised Christian-Catholic for about 9 years. Around the age of 10 is when I became an agnostic. My parents aren’t really religious and they’re super open-minded so they don’t really care

So, not really. However I am researching about Buddhism and that seams up my alley.

My family isn't over the top strict regarding believing in a god but I myself was taught growing up and still do believe that there is some sort of higher power up there, whether it's a god or not. Similar to how I believe in karma, if you do good things for others then sometime down the line you'll be repaid, etc.

Yep, I do. I question it sometimes, but questioning it is what faith is.

To everyone on the spiritual journey, I know you'll find the right path for you.

Nobody can really know whether or not there is something bigger out there, but i refuse to believe that this planet was made over because of millions of coincidences. When you think about the science behind it, it cant just be because of that. We are the perfect distance away from the sun, we have the perfect amount of gravity, we have a perfect sized moon a perfect distance away from us, all of the planets are the perfect distance away from us. We have the perfect water: land ratio. These are just the few of many things that allow us as humans to live. I say that not believing in a higher power is being somewhat ignorant. But hey, thats just my opinion.

If there's trillions of trillions of different planets in the universe, isn't it very likely that at least one of them will supply the needs for living creatures?

I mean, sure, if half of the planets in the universe contained life forms in them and we couldn't explain how such a specific standard accures so very often, then that would not make much sense. But statistically, if you have so many takes, it's likely that some will be successful, even if the chance is so small, isn't that true? It's just basic statistics...

Also, I think it's disrespectful to call opposing opinions / beliefs ignorant. You could say that you don't understand them, which would be fine, but so far everyone in the thread seemed to be respectful about different views.

I did not mean to be rude, and I respect other people's opinions, but I think people should at least do research and look into certain probabilities before making a final decision. And there is really no proof that there actually is a god, but I would love to have a discussion with you. I read this book a year ago called "Improbable Planet" by Hugh Ross, and I recommend you checking it out, because it is a really good read and it explains many different things to both people of religions and skeptics alike.

A day hasn't gone by where my mom or other relative mentions god or reminds me of how "magnificent" he is. I go to church with her (my mom) every Sunday because I feel it's the least I can do, but I don't feel that same energy that spreads throughout the service. The more I think about this topic (and I think about it a lot..), the less I'm convinced that "God" or religion in general really apply to life, aside from a way to manipulate others into thinking everything will be alright when a circumstance reveals itself.

i was raised in an islamic household where i used to pray 5 times a day and go to the mosque for friday prayer every week, so its been pushed upon me. im iffy with it. sometimes i am super into it and emotional about it, and sometimes i question it. i think believing that there is a higher power is somewhat comforting and no matter what, you ultimately get to choose what to believe.

I am a Hindu, and am part of the group of Hindus that are disciples of Venkateswara. Hinduism is a religion that most westerners don’t comprehend properly, as it’s a philosophy as well, and also teaches science in many of its ancient texts. It’s a religion worth researching into.
