Well, here goes... Bias?

If you guys really want proof that Caity didn't get helper from DWG, here's some posts directly from the staff area

 

I'm not assuming that Caity got help directly from DWG.
But I know she was very friendly with Xenon. She told me once...
"Yomc, I know someone recommended you at one point.
I have my sources.
And it wasn't Dylan."
Anyway, I wasn't assuming that it was because of DWG, but I am assuming that favoritism was involved nonetheless.

 

A bit violent, but that's almost exactly what I think.
Just because someone is a helper doesn't mean they can control everything and be the only one who helps.

It's like a 5-year-old with a new toy. He brings it into kindergarten on the first day and is so super-protective of it that he ends up slapping another 5-year-old and gets sent home.

 

Guys. Stop being so mean to Caity. She deserves this as much as all of the other helpers. Stop hating on her. Please.

Also, Jerry and Harry have the final say in this right? So if they have the final say, how could any other person have become involved in the Helper choosing?

 

Though there are many valid points I see here, we aren't here to flame someone. Let's just have a civil discussion about the matter, and not go off topic to some extent. I don't want to see this thread closed from discussion anytime soon.

How is she hating on your friends? And please know that she has feelings too. I doubt she likes being treated this way, and as Cole said, stop begin so harsh on her :/

 

What's the point of this thread? It went from general to a specific person and that person is pissed off right now? We practically gave you the procedure of promotions, and recommended players. What more do you guys want?

 

Please don't put me in this. I barely know Caity outside of a few casual conversations and the few SG games I play with her, bearpaw and others. I have nothing against her, other helpers, or anyone else on the server. I was hoping this thread wouldn't get closed so both sides could logically argue their side and nobody would get the last word, but it is most definitely going to turn into a flame war. Please lock so nobody else gets carped at.

 

Okay, what has this thread turned into.
I respect everyone's opinions but this shouldn't be a Caity hate thread. I may not like all the things that Caity does but she doesn't deserve to be hated on.
Anyway, point is that there is favoritism in staff applications.
Keep in mind, not all staff. For example, one of the staff (clearly one that isn't biased) has agreed with this thread. So I'm not blaming all the staff.
I still believe that the system should be fixed. You can see based on the amount of people who agree that the community for the most part agrees with my reasoning.
But for the time being, can we please not hate on Caity?
Oh yes, I would like it that this thread is not locked until I get a proper response addressing all of this matter from someone who has the authority to address it.

One problem with your huge post:

It is already based on merrit, and if they don't hold water, they get fired again just as quickly as they got hired.

The problem is, often times you only know part of the story, and its not your business to know the rest. Just because they have a good application does not mean that in live practice they are good at handling people.

We care more about attitude first and foremost as a good attitude is necessary for a staff member to be any good.

In addition to that, you are misunderstanding the purpose of applications. Applications allow us to get some insight into your thoughts and reasoning. Even knowing this fact will not help you fool us, because there are many subtle tells you cant control in your personality.

Plus we actually check up on people before we put them up for promotion. We ask around and look for signs they may not be up to snuff.

Yes, mods can make suggestions; but we often times reject people that mods suggest, even if 4 or more mods suggested them!

So rest assured, the system works a lot different under the hood than you are brazenly assuming.
