I have to take an ART quiz, like really ART. What I want to do with my life is going to be nothing related to art, at least the art im talking about now. Like will computer engineering need to know how to judge and analyze a painting? No! We do not need to learn this in school unless you WANT to be a artist. But I understand that we need math, science, and ELA in life, but like social studies and art are completely not needed. Sure, we take history to "understand how the world got to the point it is today" and stuff like that but that doesn't mean we need to learn EVERYTHING ABOUT THE WORLD. A basic explanation should help and if you want to look into it further then feel free of course, but unless you want to study history stuff as your major I dont believe that that should be mandatory. I completely agree with taking Math, Science, and ELA(English), because that will actually help our lives. Art, definately not. I am also taking a Educational Technology class, which I dont mind to much, because my major thingy will most likely have to deal with computers, and thats fine with me. Others who do not want that major, probably feel the way I feel about art. So this is my rant I guess, just wanted to share it. *This was originally on the discord so you may have seen this before* *This is my 100th message!!!*

What makes you say that? If you would learn everything in the world, your head would simply explode. You learn things about your country and it's history from a general standpoint. I honestly think it's a bit of an exaggeration to say that you have to learn everything about the world.

Anyways, back to the main topic.
Most people starting off school doesn't have a clue in the world what they want to become in the future. This is why, in my opinion, middle schools and high schools offer a wide variety of classes to people to help them find out what they want to become. Some classes are obviously mandatory (math, science, etc) and others are like optional classes (for some, atleast). After High School, you get to go to College or University (depending where you are) and you get to pick a program that you want to be in to pursue a career in it in the future (if you so choose so). You don't really have a choice but to attend those classes but think positively on the other side of the coin: even if you don't want to pursue a career in arts, you're still learning new things. In my opinion, having other courses that won't necessarily be useful for me is still better than having none. I want to go to College within the domain of Computer Science and I have Art class, just like you. Art helps me develop a sense of creativity which can be useful later on in your life. Each class holds its own significance and helps everyone in its own way.
(this is what i think atleast please dont cut my head off, ty)

I generally agree with the posts above me but I also see where you're coming from.
We are forced to learn lots of unnecessary things and even if some of it opens our horizons, quite a bit of it is useless.
A couple of years ago a viral video changed a lot of people's perceptions on the education system and how it doesn't prepare us fully for our later life.
So, although I respect the fact it can broaden our horizons, I still understand your struggle.

Here's the video if you were interested:
(The title may be misleading by the way but that's not the message of the video)

Following your logic about social studies, we wouldn't need science either.

Fyi, history and social studies are two different things. You may just have history units in social studies. The definition of social studies is:
"various aspects or branches of the study of human society, considered as an educational discipline."

As for the art thing, take advantage of this opportunity to participate in a fun class that many schools cannot afford. Anyways, I guarantee that your art tests aren't too difficult.

I haven't been to school for two years because I felt that I was in the wrong mind/place.
I would always refuse to go for no reason when the alarm went off I turn it off and go to sleep.
Then I'd wake up after school started.

But since now, I'm in year 9, I can't miss a day of school now. GCSEs are coming up soon and I got to work hard if I want to do animal care.
Art is lovely, my teacher says I have a real talent for it but I guess it's fine. It's ok.
I'm not showing off like this just for attention. This actually happened.
This was my secret so I'm telling you now.

You can understand that we need our Science, English, and Maths. But you need to choose a GCSE at some point.
You can't just go on ranting about school just because it's stupid. If we didn't have school, then where would we learn? Where could we educate?
Sure, Wikipedia. But that could give you false information sometimes.

So please, just see School a little more positive.
Even if we didn't have schools, we can't educate or learn.
We could have spelling cards and stuff. But what if they weren't around?

Art helps your brain grow and process things in abstract ways . It has nothing to do with whether you will do anything related to art when you're not in school
