There are corrupt people in the world who will do anything in there power to kill people.

In my opinion, the guns aren’t the problem, the people are the problem.

Yes and I think a majority of the population believe that. But guns can be used as a way to murder tons of people in a short amount of time. Which is why people want to keep guns away from the wrong people

I believe that owning a gun is a right we should continue to have, but the background checks need to be much more extensive to limit the amount of "bad" people getting guns.

That being said, banning guns wouldn't even work for America. Why? In 1920-1933 in America we made the production, importation, transportation, and sale of alcohol illegal. People still continued to drink it, make it, and profit from it. There was never a true way of containing it, it was everywhere. If they did this with guns, odds are that people are just going to get them from other people and continue to own them.

Still would result in a LOT less deaths. So thats a terrible reason to keep guns...

Calling someone "dumb" does NOT help your argument at all, and actually is pure ad hominem. Calling him "5 years old" does NOT help your argument at all and is pure ad hominem & makes you sound like you cannot explain your points clearly and thoroughly, anways, speed of death has nothing to do with this. The point is if you were to take guns away, people will just use other more deadly means of killing. Also, gun shots are only instant deaths IF the bullet hits some thing that could trigger an instant death, such as the brain. If you get hit by a high speed car, you could be instantly killed (but that's besides the point). And people could develop mental health problems after they've received their guns.

Standing on the same basis as Jerry by saying they're fine as long as they're controlled.

At the end of the day, a bullet can only kill you if the trigger is pulled, don't think anyone but a human can pull the trigger.

Yeah, well no shit. The point is not that if a person wants to do a wrong thing, then they'll do it. It's about how much access that person has in things that could aid that wrong "thing" and how many people will fall victim.

The main problem I have is how ill-informed people are. The democratic party isn't trying to take guns away or ban all guns. They just want tighter restrictions.

For example the poll on this thread doesn't really relate to this political debate. Its not about whether or not the second amendment is good/bad, its about whether or not people should be able to use automatic rifles, capable of killing hundreds in a small amount of time. Or if people with mental illness should have weapons, or suspected terrorist.
