Hurricane Irma...

Yes, I know, it's been all over the news lately as it would be the strongest Hurricane to ever hit the US. I don't live near there or even by the coastlines (Illinois doesn't have any costlines, I don't think). Here are some tips to deal with these things.

1. Get Ready, most of the people there have already started to leave, you want to do it as fast as possible to avoid any traffic or anything that could slow you down. These storms are extremely powerful and you need to get out of its path as fast as YOU CAN!
2. Pack, pack and pack. You don't nessarially now how long you will be out. It could be days or it could be weeks. So pack for how long you think you will be out. Think smarter not harder too, think of ways to save space if you will be out longer depending on how strong and how much damage there is. 180 MPH winds is strong and so is flooding.
3. Figure out where you are going to stay, are you going to be at a Hotel or at a Relatives/Friends house? Plan these out early. Always also have backup plans ready in case you need to leave again in case of an emergency.
4. GET THE HELL OUT... You don't want to wait in your house and wait days to be rescued. During Hurricanes communication are usually out because there's no power.. Sure, emergency crews will be out but it could take days for them to get to you.
5. Keep a kit of all of this. Since you want to get out as fast as possible always keep up to date kits in an attic or basement just in case. You never can be too prepared!

Hope these things will help you in an event like a hurricane like Irma! Remember to stay safe and be aware of anything that seems wrong! Remember, you can never be too prepared.

I found this site that you can track all the Hurricanes. Click here to learn more. Also, 2 more Hurricanes have been found! Hurricane Jose and Katia. Katia is headed towards the Gulf of Mexico and Jose is moving Northwest. They are both Category 1 at this time. Stay safe everyone!

Hurricane Jose is now a Category 3. Beware of this Hurricane and it's path. Hurricane Irma is now the most strongest hurricane ever recorded! Disney Cruise Line has just emptied out Castaway Key. This is not a joke. Don't fuck with this hurricane. Get the hell out if you are still there. Tell your friends there! GET THEM OUT! This hurricane just leveled out the Caribbean!

EDIT 9/9/17
Hurricane Jose is now a Category 4 and is expected to strengthen! Hurricane Irma is now a Category 4. Hurricane Katia is now considered a Tropical Depression.

EDIT 9/10/17
Hurricane Irma's eye is now in Florida and Irma has weakened to a Category 2. Hurricane Jose has been weakened to a Category 3. Meanwhile off the coast of Africa, another hurricane starts to form up. There's a 40% chance of it being a hurricane in the next 48 hours. Hurricane Katia has dissipated and is gone. Now off topic, Mexico has had a 8.3 magnitude earthquake and it expected metre high waves of a tsunami.

You people act like this is our first big rodeo. Do you not remember andrew, wilma, katrina, or the tons of other hurricanes florida has been put to the test? Another trial by fire, and everyone here knows what to do for their respective zone, thankyouverymuch. If you really want to help, get supplies ready to donate, because right now we are already low on supplies(thanks to harvey), and they aren't able to send more until after this hurricane.

Stay safe everyone, just a few weeks ago my entire city flooded as well, and the damage is still very visible 3 weeks on. I hope everybody stays in good health in Florida.

These tips are only useful for people evacuating, I'm gonna have to ride this one at home since our county hasn't ordered evacuation (even though we're gonna get hit the hardest). I've never had to worry about a storm until now, and I'm getting nervous by the second. Hopefully, it weakens. To any other fellow Floridians, stay safe, stay indoors, and make sure you have supplies to last you at least a week.

 

Stay safe! I really think the state has controls over all the counties in Florida though (I at least thought).
