Did you know that people STILL murder people even tho it's illegal? Because with your statements it seems you don't
i'm going to say this once: if we make guns illegal, criminals will get them anyway. criminals aren't just going to follow the law because of a gun ban, gun control etc
Exactly, many people have already acquired guns cheaply through illegal ways. Banning guns only tips the balance of power towards those people. I'm all for increased regulation on guns, but outright banning them isn't a good idea at all.
I'm not informed enough to have an opinion on gun control, but I do know that Open Carry is hilariously stupid. Seems like a great way to get mistaken for a terrorist and get shot
Banning all guns would be impossible and unconstitutional. Just better control would be good so mentally ill people don't get them. And the problem isn't always criminals. People aren't always born Good or Bad. Lots of gun-related incidents are domestic or suicide. Wife cheats on husband, husband shoots wife. Stuff like that
This is not a perfect society, there will never be a perfect society. There is no way for society to be perfect, because a perfect society is a dystopia in its own. Take a look at the giver for example. America is the closest we'll ever get to a utopian society. Anyways, guns can be perceived as whatever you make them out to be. You have one side saying "they are used to harm others for the sole purpose of causing harm" and another "they are used to harm others who do to cause you harm". Unless someone looks to take my life, I am never going to use a gun to harm. Muskets, pistols, ars, etc, in your logic they have no difference. "Guns are created with the sole purpose of hurting other creatures, humans, animals..". In today's society actually, its MORE vital to have a gun than ever before. You have the black market gun selling, the deep web, and more. Back then it was for war, now its for protecting yourself from massacre shooters, home invaders, and just for protection for yourself in general. Its also not uncomfortable to be around someone with a gun if they dont tell you they have one, you wont tell the difference. Someone openly gloating they have one maybe I can see, but honestly someone that has one isnt a big deal for anyone.
To continue on his concealed carry thing, Urban Carry is a really popular gun holister hidden in your pants that contours to your movement. I've even seen it modified to holster no-stock shotties.
You guys think it's so important to have guns to protect yourself. It's such an idiotic argument. Guns don't protect. Guns instigate. Australia for example, we have very strict gun laws. You need either a permit (farmers / hobbyists) or be a police officer or the likes. We can't get guns easily. We have very few people die because of gun related violence because we stood there and realised guns were bad. Your selfish desire should never hold over other people's lives.
America has had the 2nd amendment, the right to bear arms, since the creation of it, and revoking said right at this point is chaotic, there'd be more people fighting for the right than against it, and those people have guns.
My last statement was referring to that amendment. Apparently keeping a right holds value over people's lives. You guys have school massacres which harm children. Tell me what other countries have that? America is so mememe they forgot what sacrifice for others is. Sacrificing your right to bear arms will save so many people. Excuse my screenshot as I'm on a phone but just look at this one comparison. Spoiler Turns out I missed a screenshot That's disgusting that so many more people fall victim to selfish behaviour.
I agree, I'm just stating that there's more harm trying to take the right away. Technically, and this will sound stupid, someone can cause a large amount of harm with other sorts of weapons. A knife, which the law is so lenient about, is an example, yet we still have those
I don't know if it's just Americans but the fall back argument is that people can cause harm anyway. 1) guns are the number one source of violence/murder in America 2) stabbings happen yes, but look at the stats of America vs any other first world country (war stricken countries would be an unfair comparison). Getting rid of guns would reduce death rates more than I think you realise. It wasn't easy to abolish gun rights here but they did it after we had one massacre. A guy killed over 30 people and then the government said ok that's enough. What does it need to take to stop unnecessary deaths?
Ok but what other use is there for guns rather than to harm things.. Knives have use to cut things like food and basically anything else. People who use them to do damage to other people have issues, but idk about self defense. Guns can do so much more harm than any other weapon just look at the rates between stabbings and gunshots
Home defense is the highest reason for purchasing a firearm. You can't defend a home with a knife, can you?
No but over here people don't intrude with guns and so either a dog or the police can scare them away.
