You probably might notice how there is no warning on this thread, that is because I'm not really getting into any rather sensitive topics, for once. Just keep in mind I will be a game critic. Kept you waiting for another thread, huh? Today's topic will be about games, including Minecraft. This is a subject I have been wanting to talk about for a little while, so I am doing it now. I am going to be listing games that I like/hate, and giving my opinion on them. Considering how it would be extremely difficult to put these in order, there will be no specifics on the listing of said games. Note: These are games I have played myself, so if a game you are passionate about is not on this list, it either means I have not played it or I do not have a legitimate opinion on it. So let's get started with the first game, starting with games I don't like. Dislike: 1. Dead Rising 3. In case you never played this game, the first and second games of this franchise are the best in my opinion. While I did not hate this game, it is appearing on this list because of its inability to top the first game of the franchise. I was disappointed with this game, but it did add things that I did like... It added 'combo' vehicles, which I enjoyed riding around it and killing zombies all while engaging in something else, The graphics are heavily improved from previous titles, (Yet, this is a AAA game, so this isn't a huge feat), and I liked some of the new weapons they added. There are more that I liked about this game, but I cannot remember more as of right now. Spoiler: Why I dislike the game (Detailed) (Spoilers) The problem is that the story line for this game is borrowed from the first game, except with some major changes. The story line is of course another government conspiracy on how they deliberately released the zombie virus to the public, same with the first game. Also, I did not like new character very much, but that is just me. Once again, this is all I can remember. 2. Halo 4. Before I start this one, I did not hate this game, but the reason I have it on this list is because it was a disappointment to be compared to its previous title, Halo 3, which was definately the best Halo game for multiplayer I have ever played. The game was definately not terrible however, as I have no key dislikes about it, but the disappointment is why it's on this list in the first place, so this one will be kept short. 3. Most of the entire Call of Duty franchise. Alright, so if you are a fan of this franchise, there is nothing wrong with that, as I will not hate on you for liking the game, I am just stating why I do not like it. This franchise has always been there, even before I was born. The reason I dislike this franchise is because it always seemed like a copy-and-paste type of game, which I do not like. I liked all the games all the way through Modern Warfare 2, but then it kept going downhill from there for me. All they had to do is, make a story, add a few maps, add 4 new guns, DLC, and then you have your next AAA Call of Duty game. Like I said, I do not hate this franchise, but the newer titles have always been a let down for me, so this is a liable contender for one of my most disliked franchises. There are more that I cannot remember, so I may update this list in the future. Likes: 1. Metal Gear Solid Franchise. Alright, you more than likely saw this coming from a mile away, but this is one of my favorite franchises by far. Without going into too much detail, this franchise has one of the best storylines in video game history, not to mention its gameplay, which is also why it's so loved. I like it because it offered people a different way to approach gaming in general, because of having to shoot your enemies, your goal was to sneak past them, excluding boss fights of course. I liked always having an alternative to your average "Pew-Pew" games. I would love to keep going on why I love this game franchise, but if I did I would just be rambling. So let's move on. 2. PVZ: Garden Warfare. Before you criticize me for liking this game, hear me out first. This game is a mix of Call of Duty, TF2, and obviously PVZ all in one game, and the gameplay was obviously unique compared to other video game titles. What I liked about it was its simplicity and not being hard to understand, but at the same time offering you competitive play with other people. Each side is balanced, and it takes actual teamwork to push objectives in this game. Aside from this games funny alternatives to gameplay, I also liked the progressing system. The game never required you to unlock new characters, but they offered there own fair share of uniqueness to this game. This game is rather unappreciated compared to other titles as well. 4. Minecraft. Okay, I know you saw this coming also. To be honest, I do not play minecraft much anymore, but I still love the game for its simplicity and its uniqueness (if that's a word). I would not be here if it wasn't for this game, and either would you. What I liked about this game as you could imagine, is being able to build, survive, and thrive endlessly and while also being bound to no restrictions on what you can do in the game. Along side it's multiplayer and its mods, you have made one game where literally anything is possible. I would go on about how I like this game, but it is pretty apparent that I love the game, so let's move on shall we? 5. The Halo Franchise. This game has a very special place in my heart for being the very first game I have ever played, and still offering me enjoyment to this day. These series of games is what built the foundation for every other future game franchise, including Minecraft. Halo CE and Halo 2 are the games which brought online multiplayer to us, and Halo 3 had a reputation for being one of the best multiplayer games out there. I remember playing Halo CE when I was little, and it was the game that introduced me to gaming in general! Halo is one of the orginal games which was the inspiration for a lot games which are big today, too many for me to list here, but one of the biggest being the Call of Duty franchise. 6. Rainbow Six: Seige. This is a game I have been playing recently, and I can say without a doubt that I like the game. The game is definately not like previous titles, offering little to no story at all, but instead, it offers great multiplayer with a very realistic tone of combat style. There is not really much I can say about this game, because it is multiplayer based, which means the game is focused around how you play it instead of story. What I can say though is, the characters you can unlock all have different sets of skills, which men like you would be afraid of. Spoiler: ... Overview: I look forward to hearing your opinion, but I must tell you that if you do not agree with something I said, remember that it is my opinion and mine alone. Other than that, I hope you all have a great day, ~Venom.
The Call of Duty franchise is the perfect example of how being profit-driven can ruin a game franchise. The first few CODs (1-5) were very well made, fun to play, and you can tell a lot of effort was put into them, however, after MW2, Activision decided to copy-paste into the next iteration, on a 1 year cycle, and that clearly shows how profit-driven Activision really is. If Activision didn't go down that path, COD would've been a much better franchise, and more innovative. Minor rant: I hate the supply drops in BO3, it's clearly a cash grab, other games with RNG are more rewarding, and you can earn packs faster, however with BO3, it's slower, and more of a grind.
These are some of my favorite and least favorite games/game franchises lately. Battlefield franchise. These games are the closest thing to a full-scale multiplayer battle you can get, other than Planetside 2, and sometimes Arma. The main gamemode for all of the battlefield games is conquest which is probably the biggest of the gamemodes, then there's Rush, which was added in one of the later games, Bad company. also Team Deathmatch, and a lot more. The only bad thing about this franchise is Battlefield Hardline. stay away from it. But aside from hardline, all of the battlefield games are pretty good. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim This game has been out for nearly 5 years now, and it still holds up. There's just so much to do in that game. Along with the other Elder Scrolls games. The NPC's and the atmosphere is really Immersive, it makes skyrim much more believable but what really makes this game just as amazing after many years? the Modding community, by now there are thousands of mods to alter the game however you want, whether it's a minor tweak to one of the game's flaws, or an entire new quest, but mods or not, Skyrim is a very good game. Star wars: Battlefront Okay, this one I have mixed thoughts about. First things first, the graphics are AMAZING. but thats no reason to throw money at EA just yet. The default game only has four maps on the Walker assault gamemode, they've added two more since launch, (1 of which I actually enjoy) And a few new weapons, now there's 13 rather than 11!! My point is there's not nearly enough content for this game, and the singleplayer is literally two hours worth of content, There's more coming in the upcoming 3 DLC's (4th has already been released) but in order to get those, you have to pay an extra 50 DOLLARS FOR THE SEASON PASS!! THE BASE GAME COSTS 60! *facepalms*
