*not on the j/h server, reporting an advertiser on here is easy. I for one hate advertisers. For a long time, I have always gone onto these smaller servers to spam them and make their lives a living hell. However, recently I found that a server actually had a rule against it. Here is my story of getting a staff member demoted on a smaller unnamed server. The advertiser types in the chat the IP to the server. I don't remember their username, but I'm pretty sure that they were reported. Naturally, I see this IP and I see a great opportunity to be the most annoying person ever. I screenshotted the message, then logged on. I spammed in chat on their server insulting them, until I got muted. I then started spamming the owner's messages. After a while, I was banned. At first I decided to just get on my alt account and spam them some more since I was sure that I didn't get IP banned, but I ended up actually helping the server. I logged on to the server with my alt account and started asking questions. I asked why they were advertising on our server, and to my surprise, the Owner had absolutely no idea that one of his/her staff members were advertising. The Owner actually messaged me asking who was advertising, and I told him the username and that I had screenshots if they were necessary. I knew that if he was a good owner, he wouldn't just take my word for it. He asked me for the screenshots, so I sent them to him. This owner actually said in the chat, "*The guy's username*. We do not need more members. Advertising on other servers is against our rules, and you are being demoted for it." (not sure if that part is verbatim, I wish I had screenshotted the entire conversation.) The advertiser tried to cover his tracks by saying that it was his friend that advertised the server, but the Owned didn't want to hear it. He then thanked me, and I told him that he could ban me if he wanted to since I was the one spamming about 10 minutes before. He said that he would give me another chance on my alt account. I told him I probably wouldn't log on again, and I thanked him for being a great Owner. The moral of the story is that not every server is being malicious by advertising. What if some random player advertised the ItsJerryAndHarry server on a different server? It's not the server's fault, it's the player's fault. Don't be so quick to judge smaller servers. Thank you for reading this mess of a story.
Two things: One: This could be a lie, and he might of gotten re promoted after you left. Two: Even if this is true, 9/10 times Ive been on a small server they have required staff to advertise on big servers.
Most small servers require applying members to advertise to get noticed/get some regular users. However (even though it could be a lie) neat story. :)
