I felt like creating a poll on which genre people thought was the best. When you vote, please post a response on why you chose your option and if any, give videos of the genre you like. In my opinion, rock is better, because it has so much variation. From Jimi Hendrix to AC/DC to George Thorogood. The are so many sub genres of rock like Folk Rock, Grunge Metal, Heavy Metal, Death Metal, Classic Rock, Soft Rock, Hard Rock and Alternative Rock. Also I like the use of the guitar in rock, from solos to accompanying the vocalist, it is a beautiful skill, there are so many great guitarists from Ted Nugent to Eddie Van Halen. Sorry if I didn't add any other genres, because I thought these two genres were more fit for a debate. One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer by George Thorogood Don't Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix Cocaine by Eric Clapton Eruption by Van Halen Stranglehold by Ted Nugent https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0c3d7QgZr7g Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKSmskT3fPQ&list=WL&index=29
This is for other people who read Pop music isn't better in fact, only opinion. Even though it may have less skill doesn't mean its worse. You may think it worse in ur opinion, but it isn't. Rock music has more skill but doesn't mean its better too. If u think its a fact that 1 is better than another, u need to rethink. Even tho rock has been good, its not a fact that its better. Why don't people think this through more. They make battles like Terraria VS Minecraft and Cod vs Halo. WTF, both are different both it doesn't mean 1 is better in fact! Same with this poll, its an opinion if u think 1 is better, not a fact.
he said "in my opinion" look never once did the op say it was fact that rock is better, so calm down. people like to compare things that are somewhat similar because we're people. it;s like comparing chocolate and vanilla ice cream. there is no facts.
I like both so i don't wanna vote. Pop is modern and is played on the radio all the time (for me) so isn't it more likely for people to like pop?
Personally, I listen to more rock than pop. But, there's nothing wrong with liking either genre. Rock does have variation, as well does pop. I'm not going to treat someone lesser because they listen to a different music genre than me. It's cool that you listen to whatever you want. Both require skill, and talent. People put work into each song. It's someone's expression through art and that is all that matters. And, there's different sub-genres within each. Neither one is better than the other. pop/indie Rock/punk rock etc both songs I gave were both totally different. I'm not much for labeling music myself. Songs rarely sound the exact same as the next.
I really agree that you can't consider other people as inferior because of their music tastes, however, many people still judge others because of their tastes. Metal heads or rock enthusiasts in high schools nowadays tend to be rejected because people think that cool people listen to pop, however, back 15-65 years ago, rock was the norm and it was considered that cool people listened to rock. General music tastes change for each generation, but there are a significant amount of people who like other genres.
I hope this count as a reason... I like pop because you can drink it ( the real reason is, well, I think pop songs aren't that "loud" as rock. )
Wait I just noticed this post... Pop isn't modern. It's been around since the 1950s. Same with rock music, it originated in the 1950s.
EXACTLY!!! I've been trying to tell people that pop has started way back after World War 2 had ended. Around the early 1950's Pop emerged. With bands like the Monkees, they brought a fresh take to music, then there's the crappy pop we have now, IMO.
I like pop better. Rock you mostly just hear is load noises that hurt my ears. i hate the over played love songs on the radio dat are pop but i like pop better then rock. i like no rock song so lol
