hi, I'm building a PC with my dad, so far we bought a GTX 980 graphics card and some other stuff. I honestly can't choose what to get for the rest. Any suggestions?
intel i7 core, if you can, get a pro version of it. puh-lease. I'm not an expert on computers, but it'll help a lot.
Theminer... No comment. Pickkles, since you just bought a 980, I'm assuming you got some moniez to spend. I'd go for an intel i7 4790k if you can. For the motherboard, I'd recommend an Asus z97 LGA 1150. a simple Corsair CX750M PSU should be able to power all that no problem. For RAM just get a set of Corsair vengeance 8GB. For storage, go for a Western Digital black 2TB hardrive, and a Samsung 850 evo 250GB SSD. For the case, I'd go for a corsair 750d. Lastly, slap in Windows 10 and boot'er up. Here's a breakdown with glorious links: GPU: Nvidia GTX 980 (I'm hoping you got ACX 2.0 because it's better and cheaper) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487079 CPU: Intel i7 4790k http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117369 MoBo: Asus z97-A LGA 1150 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132118 RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233144 PSU: Corsair CX750M: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139051 HDD: Western Digital black 2TB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236624 SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147372 Case: Corsair 750d http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139024 OS: Windows 10 Home: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832416892 Total price = Roughly $1560 (not including keyboard, mouse, or monitor(s).) Now if I knew your budget, I possibly would have created this Computer differently, but all of these parts work great together. For a reference, here's my build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/mFFrhM
Alright, thanks, and yes my dad is using a lot of money for this, the overall price of the build is around 2k. Thanks
Depends on what he uses it on. For 90% things he'd probably use it on, no, it won't make any difference whatsoever. I never agree with getting an xK processor. OCing doesn't give you much benefit, and produces extra heat for you to deal with, lowering the overall lifespan of your PC. I'd say go with an E3 Xeon instead. Due to that, we don't need to get a Z97 MB due to the fact that it won't give us any real benefit. You can get a Z87, but that's a bit of a waste too. A B85 will do the job just fine. If you have that much money, I'd opt for 16GB of RAM. Thanks to the release of Skylake, DDR3 prices have practically been slashed in half, so 16GB now costs as much as 8GB did a few months ago. For your PSU, I'd always try to get something from Seasonic, as they are by far one of the most reliable PSU manufacturers. As for your storage, I'd elect to get a 120-250GB SSD, and 2 1TB HDDs, since you can dedicate the SSD to your C Drive (if using Windows), and the 2 HDDs will be better in terms of reliable, so in case 1 fails, you have another one you can use. I also wouldn't recommend the case that Shadow recommended. Rather large and impractical. You're far better off with a mid tower, such as the Fractal Design Define R5. As for your OS, that's entirely up to you, but I wouldn't recommend going for Win 10 yet. Give them a bit more time to patch up security flaws and other miscellaneous exploits.
Make sure you get a hefty power supply. I had a gtx 980 and my computer couldn't support it so I had to downgrade to a 960. Intel i7 processors are way more than enough to run minecraft and fps games smoothly. I have 16 gb of ddr 4 ram and I can run everything very well.
