Mind Reading Trick

So I composed a mind reading trick. I checked on YouTube and nobody posted one that uses the exact same path. Ready?

1. Put your finger on one of these numbers:

[1] [2] [3] [4] [5]​

2. Move RIGHT that number squared.
If you have to move right on 5, move left.
If you have to move left on 1, move right.
(Remember, squared is that number times itself. For example, if you chose 1, move right once.)

3. Move 2 spots RIGHT.

4. If you believe in mind reading, stay still. If you don't, move RIGHT 8 times.

5. If you're a guy, move RIGHT once. If you're a girl, move LEFT 7 times.

Got 3. Um.

I know another trick however that actually works. It is from a popular video that you might know. Try this:

1. Pick a number in between 1 or 5.
2. Add 5 to the number you chose.
3. Subtract 1 to the number you have just added 5 to.
4. Add 2.
5. Then take away the number you chose in the beginning.

If you have done these instructions correctly, then the number you have right now is...

The reason that trick works is because you are basically doing something similar to this:
x + 6
x + 6 - x

I built this trick because it's less explainable than that trick.

P.S: Most of you are doing it incorrectly, because these common mistakes:
- You count switching from right to left as 2 moves instead of 1.
- You skip the first count, or forget the last.

 

I did this multiple times and still did not get an answer of 5.
