I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU BRO.
    /end.
    Jk.

Anyways, I really agree with you. Posts like those are irritating, as they are an exact copy as the original post. Maybe, they could be slightly different than the original post, it just has more info. Too me, a few words in a thread is kinda post farming. (exception of the forums, Forum Games and Other Games.) In suggestions, there should be a rule whereas it says if you Agree / Disagree, explain your reasoning.

It is a number indeed. But there are certain people around the forums who have a lot of posts! Around 90% of the time their replies are so useless I start to think to myself if they've even read the thread. Then every milestone of posts they reach they tend to brag about it whether it be on peoples walls, posting on a thread or even starting up a brand new thread. Now this is what I find darn right outrageous, you go around posting useless unhelpful comments then you start bragging about it as if you should be respected for it.

At some points, it might get 'outrageous'. However, some of our posts do speak some sense. They're not all spammy.

    Nailed it.
    Yes.
    Thank you.
This is a point that really needed to be brought up, and you presented it perfectly.
I cannot stress the importance of this thread in words.
The amount of times I have seen a post saying, "lol" or, "wut" or some other one to two word unconstructive spammy post (excluding forum games) is ridiculous.
Flare, you never fail to thoroughly present these points, and you do it so well. Hats off to you.
You have my full support on this post. Okay, enough goody good comments, time to actually respond.

These redundant, unconstructive, or spammy posts are intolerable, as you said.
If your post is not going to be helpful, why post it? (Again, this is excluding forums such as Forum Games)
As the African proverb goes, "If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem."
Now, one could argue that post count is a number and doesn't matter, but what does not seem to be realized is the fact that many, many members actually do judge by post count, and do not care about have quality over quantity.
This respect for high post count leads to newer members following a bad example.
They think that the high posting members should be held in prestige, and respected, so they attempt to learn from them.
However, all they learn from their spammy "role model" is that short, unnecessary posts are fine.
I'm telling you, this doesn't just affect out current problems, it could lead to even worse future problems.
I strongly feel that this issue should be dealt with, and I think that some people try to shrug it off, but in actuality, they are enraged deep within.
Flare, I thank you ever so much for making this post, and as I previously stated, you have my full support.

I can think of 4 people straight off the top of my head that have a very high amount of posts, I can truthfully say that these are the posts I see them doing. Forum games which I'm not going to lay the blame for but it does increase post count significantly. Posting on suggestions or any threads the exact same thing as 5-6 people before have said, I think 5 is enough people answering the same thing to make it clear what the answer is, don't you? Posting on staff apps "GL" or "GL more info" without even specifying which section needs more info. I have a few more examples but if I mentioned them one slight bit of research would point them straight to who I'm talking about. Which I'd rather not do.

If you put no effort into something, you are wasting your time.

Why do something if you put no effort in it?

Sometimes you might think that someone has bad grammar even if stated that English is not their first language. Atleast they put more EFFORT than someone just saying "Your grammar sucks." What kind of effort is putting down 3 words in one single post?

    So yeah. Effort.

Edit: Who voted for the "Who cares" Pole? You obviously put no effort into voting xD

Yay, someone else who thinks that people should put more effort into their posts. Finally.

Silent, Leandro, and who ever else has made this point: If it is just a number, then why does it exist? It has no point being here if this is the case. And the thing is, just as rep on the old forums, people care about this number, seeing it as a competition, such as Teddie has stated in his staff app.

Flare: I need to sum up your post, however, I will have to do more when I get back from school.

Age doesn't matter. You of all people I would think would know this. He may seem a bit young, but some young people are more mature and give more effort than higher ages, you, for example.

Like i said, I will edit this more.

    The much needed EDIT:

See, this is what I don't get. If english isn't the first language, then you have no right to criticize them. But ofc, even on the old forums, people criticized others for having "bad grammar". Even more, they didn't even care if english was the person's first language. If it wasn't english enough, it wasn't "worthy". People need to lay off.

We know how you feel. There are so many useless replies that are just there to increase post count. This is why there needs to be two things:

The old suggestion rule where you had to say why you agreed/disagreed

    and 30 Char

Without these, people make useless posts. Look at Staff apps. "Good luck" is all thats in there half the time. They don't even help the person, its just a casual "Good luck". This is pointless if you don't say why you like them getting mod or agree with their suggestion.

This is exactly how Harry replied to a thread I made about getting rid of post count in a section. "Its just a number". Look at how people treat it. They abuse it. They posts useless and spammy things just to gain post count. They think it somehow gives them authority, the "Well-known Member" or "Active Member" ranks. It doesn't. And if it really is a number, then why does it exist? So people spam and get ranks to make them feel like they have authority? Thats what it seems like.

And, in some parts of this Flare, you are acting as if you are...above us. Not much worthy of note, but I still noticed it. Just be a little careful.

Fine. 90% are. Don't trust me? Search it, I guarantee that on many high posters you can see that most posts are less than 4 words.
The evidence is literally right there, you can't deny it. It is an issue. And if you've noticed, only three people have voted against the overwhelming majority here.
Clearly the forums feels this way too.

The issue with the age, is not because age doesn't matter. It actually does, to some extent.
True, some kids act older than they appear in real life, however, keep in mind that they are young. They have a shorter life experience, a shorter story than us. They are learning. So though there may be many mature 9 year olds out there, keep in mind that not all of them act this way. By considering someone's age, you can lower or raise your expectations. You should know what an average 9 year old acts like. If he exceeds your expectations, well than he is a very mature 9 year old, and not a "standard".

This isn't a flame war or anything, this is just a "friendly" acting chat.

    General topic
Adding on, redundant posting should be a rule. The reason why is essentially how it is very similar to post "farming". If 20 people say "Edit your staff application." this makes the person who made the thread annoyed. Unless they say something like "Still, needs a bit work after the edit" then it's ok as long as 40 people don't post that as well. Also, I see quite some people putting serious effort in things like staff applications, but rather a lack of effort outside of it. Back to post farming, it's obvious you are post farming when you see 2 messages when you scroll down to post your message.

Finally someone noted this point, and I'll try to work to fix that part.

It is hard, very hard for me to do so...

People are just scared to criticize a good post. Sometimes, they are just too afraid to criticize at all. If only that could change... Anyways, I know its hard for you. Just watch what you type, and maybe re-type it to make it sound less like authority and more like a normal poster.

You take criticism well, and you should be proud of that. It shows you are mature enough to see your own mistakes.

    Tell me about it.
On forums that I have been on in the past, people would take criticism and use to to improve. Here, people don't seem as inclined to speak out. Its an environment I am... unused to, at the very least.
I completely agree with that statement though. It SHOULD definitely change.

Wut. This thread wasn't directed on forum games, we let that go. At least, I do, but the others above disagree.
So much effort? We just don't want to see posts like 'Agreed', or 'Good luck' on suggestion threads.
Also, I wanted to bring the awareness of how some posts, can be abusive, stated in the original post, so your reply is slightly off topic.

All we want, is to at least know why you agree/disagree with a suggestion, or merely post 'good luck', for no reason.

Some posts like "You are too young" or related isn't a rule for IJAH Staff Applications... Some people... even around 9 to 12 can write excellent applications than some people! Age doesn't matter, its the effort put into it! And I also recommend thinking twice on what you are going to comment on a post.

    But put it this way.

If a 9 year old makes an application, you probably wouldn't go all over him and correcting everything, instead you would praise them for actually trying.

Yes, 'You are Too Young' is not a valid statement, but in reality, some people are only mature to their age, not everyone is 'excellent' in a way. Not everyone can excel when he/she is 10, so you wouldn't expect them to understand your points?

What I'm pointing out is, we shouldn't keep correcting certain staff app threads, as some of the applicants are young to a level, where they don't understand on what exactly they're applying for. Correcting them leads to double-triplepost, and frustration between two players. It's pretty easy to see maturity through the application of a person, so I generally think that most people here would have no trouble discriminating the latter.
