I've seen those people who watch anime so much that they start addrassing eachother as *name*-saan.
It scares me.
I guess I used to watch Pokemon, but the recent seasons have been absolute crap. I'm looking at you, Black and White.

I'm surprised this thread wasn't created before, but I have a question forty you guys. In my book anime are just another cartoon, just from a different country, so do you consider anime as cartoons?

 

Nope, cartoons are for kids, manga and anime are for teens and some of them are for adults only, like hellsing.

 

Cartoons are not for just kids, look at Family Guy, it's a cartoon, not for kids.

"A cartoon is a form of two-dimensional illustrated visual art. While the specific definition has changed over time, modern usage refers to a typically non-realistic or semi-realistic drawing or painting intended for satire, caricature, or humor, or to the artistic style of such works. An artist who creates cartoons is called a cartoonist."

Anime is also ful of caricature, you don't see people with giant eyes often.

 

Animes focuses on plot (most of em) family guy and similar cartoons are just for satire, if you watch some really good animes you will understand.

 

Adventure Time focuses on the plot of finding other humans, it's a cartoon.

 

They are not the same, but both are great.
