A couple months ago I had to make a blog post for eniglish class. For that weeks entry I wrote on something called net nutrality here is what I wrote:

    FC: Fast lane, no freedom.
There is an ongoing issue that needs to be addressed. This is an issue called net neutrality, something that if taken away is a very scary thing.
What is net neutrality? Well net neutrality is the idea, or concept that keeps ALL sights accessible, free of charge. This means that you can go to any website, anywhere, and your Internet service provider, commonly known as an ISP, can't charge you for a website. They also can't charge you to make a connection faster. To this day the Federal Communication Commission, or FCC as restricted ISP's from doing this. Now the FCC is considering allowing a rule that will allow ISP's to create a fast lane for high paying customers, with a fast lane comes a slow lane. What does this mean? Well take this for example:
Suppose you go on to a public wifi, like a mall for example, and its impossible to do anything on the wifi cause it takes every page an ungodly amount of time to load, the wifi service becomes more less unusable and you can't do anything. This is what the slow lane looks like, unless you pay your ISP some money, and this is only an addition to the fee you have to pay just to even think about getting internet.
Companies for this change purposed by the FCC are companies such as but not limited to: Verizon, AT&T, Comcast, and Time Warner Cable, ironically they are the people that will benefit from this change. Companies against this? Tumblr, Etsy, Vimeo, Google, Reddit, and Twitter, the companies that will ultimately be hurt from this, as customers will have a harder time getting to there service, and potently a decrease of traffic to there website, the FREE websites that YOU enjoy.
Need another example? Here is one more:
Ever gone to a big amusement park like Disney World? To even get in the amusement park its a pretty good size fee, as of right now its $94 to get in any Disney Teme park, not Magic Kingdoom, for one day, that's allot of money. Okay now your in the park, and you want to go ride a ride. You go up to the ride and you see the wait is 2.5 hours, Now your at a catch 22; you really want to ride that ride, but you dont really want to wait 2.5 hours. Suddenly Mickey Mouse comes up to you and offers a fast pass, which allows you to basically cut in line and reduce the wait to 30 minutes, but for additional cost, while I dont know the cost lets just say its about $20 per person.
That example is what ISP's are trying to achieve. Lets walk back through it shall we?
It starts with with general admission, that's your cost per month to just have internet, or cable, this gets you to every web site out there accessible to the public. Okay great, now you want to go tweet out your new selfie on twitter, your favorite website, that would be the ride or attraction. However you notice there is a 25 second wait time just to load one page on twitter, your once again at a catch 22; you really want to show the world your selfie, but 25 seconds just to load one page is a really long time. Just to put that in prospective, if a video on Youtube takes more then two seconds to load, then you have already lost 50% of your audience, that's the patience that people have over the internet. But now Comcast calls you and says; hey for an extra so much a month I can make that connection to twitter speed up, sound good?
That what is is, your getting doubled dipped, and you wont be able to do anything about it.
Im curious to see what you guys think about it.
