Hi. Some of you may know, some of you don't, but the Grand Final of Eurovision Song Contest 2016 was held in Stockholm, Sweden last Saturday. Eurovision Song Contest, ESC or Eurovision for short, is a competition between different countries in Europe (+ some countries near & Australia). Every country send one singer/group to sing a song in front of 200 million people. Some countries decide the representative by a local competition in the country and others just choose in some way (I don't know sure). The winner gets a glass microphone sculpture & the responsibility of being host the next year. Sweden won with Måns Zelmerlöv's song Heroes last year, and were therefor hosts this year. I am a Swede and am very proud how we did it. You can watch the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 Grand Final here. Spoiler: ESC 2016 Winner This year won Ukraine Eurovision with Jamala performing the song 1944. According to many (including me), the song was very political and directed to the Russian Crimean Peninsula Conflict in 2014 (read more here). Many people also think (me included, again) that a song shouldn't win Eurovision because of it's message to the people, if it's political, and instead because people love the song. You can also see that right now (16th of May) the music video have more dislikes than likes. Honestly, I don't like the song either. So I want to hear your opinion. Please vote in the poll linked with this post, and we can see the opinion of the people. I also have another opinion. Being the host of Eurovision is a very big expense. Ukraine (no offense) had/have really many negative things going on and maybe they should spend money on that instead of a music festival. This is just my opinion. - Jonathan YouTuber & Gamer
I, personally, didn't like the singer. Yes, the message was against Russia, which was a finalist with Ukraine (I think), but the singer, in general, had a bad voice, and the song choice didn't fit her voice. She did do good riffing at the end of the song, though... Otherwise, she should've lost...
