I've seen other post about this too, those who have donated before a certain date should be able to keep their perks and have them returned and those who buy it after a date gets the certain perks removed. It will certainly put an end to the drama, and not demote the people who payed a a lot of money.
PS. I also have another suggestion for those of us who donated and have a lot of homes and now we cant set anymore, we should at least be able to change the original /sethome around or delete some so we can change at least 1 home.

Also I don't think that there is a way around this without soft currency.
