    What do you mean by the lighting being messed up? Where? When? Did you check your own brightness? If it is still being weird, check your options.text file in the minecraft folder. Go to gamma, and it should be at 1.0 for it to be normal. If you want it brighter, change it to a higher number and lower for a darker setting. Also, (at least for me) every time I reloaded minecraft, I needed to go back and reset the gamma back up to 100 again. Basically it resets itself all the time for me, but this may not be an issue for you.
